Turn signal replacement

I have a '95 Corsica and hit something that broke the lens on the frong driver's side turn signal. So, I went out and bought a new lamp (since the lens isn't seperate) and went to put it in. I unbolted the dang thing (which is a pain in the butt to get to.) It took me forever to get the dumb bulb out since you can't get to the stupid thing and finally was ready to pull the lamp assembly. It doesn't come out. It's stuck in teh bumper behind the dang plastic over the front of the car.

I find it hard to believe that I have to drop the plastic from the entire front of the car, especially since there are two holes to remove the bolts through the plastic from the bottom. But, I can't find any other way. So, I bolted the dang thing back on and have to wait for an answer. The strange thing is my Haynes manual and owner's manual both show how to replace all bulbs and lamps EXCEPT the front turn lamps. What is up with that? I know I can pull the plastic from below the headlamp assembly, but it did'nt look like that would do anything for me.

Please help.
