hi,just a little worried about build up of yellow gunge under engine oil cap, also i changed my air filter recently and found the same yellow gunge situated in the air filter housing, and recently the engines not ticking over as it should on start up,its cut out a few times but ok once it gets runnin, also blowing out a little more smoke than usual,,do i need to be worrying,,any advice would be cool. boschmann 03-06-2005, 05:07 PM Have you looked at the engine breather hose & pipe, it's the rubber hose & plastic pipe that runs from the valve cover down the front of the engine near the timing cover then over to the engine block. The rubber hose usually collaspes & the plastic pipe is common to crack. If the smoke is white steam then it's time to worry, are you losing coolant? chillyboy40 03-06-2005, 05:52 PM Have you looked at the engine breather hose & pipe, it's the rubber hose & plastic pipe that runs from the valve cover down the front of the engine near the timing cover then over to the engine block. Some steam from the tailpipe is normal, after the exhaust is thoroughly warmed is should taper off. If your in a cold climate some condensation that can form sludge in the valve cover is normal. A coolant loss would be an indicator of problems. chillyboy40 03-13-2005, 03:57 PM cheers boschmann, your probably rite about the climate and that,im in uk and its been freezing lately,so maybe i shouldnt worry too much about the sludge and stuff,,after worryin about them the starter motor conked out and i had to replace it,always somet isnt there, thanks anyway,,chilly.
