2000 Expedition Resistor ReplacementAngella 03-03-2005, 05:07 PM Friend just got a quote from the stealership - to try to find out why her heat is stuck on hot ($650). So... I'm thinking resistor... similar symptoms, I've replaced them in 2 of my cars this year alone. Any clue how hard it is to get to it in these vehicles? way2old 03-03-2005, 08:01 PM I don't think it is the resistor unless the fan only runs on high or just one speed. It may be a blend door problem where the door or blend door actuator is stuck on the hot side. Also may be the heating controls in the dash. :2cents: Angella 03-03-2005, 11:22 PM yeah, I'm reading this now, and I totally stated that incorrectly... by hot, I meant high (it sure get's hot : )... but I have seen resistors that are stuck on 2 of 4 and such (it's not always high, but it is most of the time...) Anyway, stealership quoted her over $600 to tear apart the dash and replace, so I wanted to see what's really invovled... I've never had to completely remove the dash, but it's always in a tough place. : ) way2old 03-05-2005, 08:23 PM All ford says about location, is it is in the center of the dash. It also shows about 30 steps to replace it. If the vehicle has a console, there are things to cut and modify. Tried to post the info here, but could not get it to go. Good luck. Angella 03-06-2005, 03:41 PM do you know what manual that came from? I had planned to pick up a haynes the other day, but I'm nursing the flu now. Obviously, it doesn't keep her from driving the vehicle, but she'd like to have it fixed for a little less than $600 : ) If it's something you can email, please do. Thanks! way2old 03-06-2005, 04:37 PM The information came from Ford factory manuals. I will try to get it to you. tork1 03-06-2005, 09:36 PM I'm still having trouble with my AC, I post my issues a couple weeks ago.and didn't get any replys really.anyway I'm wondering if I'm having a blend door problem or not. what I have noticed the last couple weeks is that I get heat when I want cool and visa-versa but if I fiddle with the controls I sometimes will get what I want. it is intermitent. but I also found that I can not get any hot air out of the back vents from either master or back controls only cold air.I don't know the symptoms of a bad blend door , or perhaps a bad control. if anyone could help me I would appreciate that.
