need some help please. when the car is at an idle the oil light will come on. it is not coming on solid and staying on. it is kinda of flashing (like it doesn't know if it wants to come on or not). only happens after driving and coming to stops then light will go away after giving the car gas.
any suggestions or ideas would be great.. thanks

you have a bad oil pressure sensor. Very common for that to go bad on the 2.7 liter V6; what happens is after a while the internal seals of the sensor fail and traces of oil get on the electrical terminals and give it a false reading. The part's $23.49 at your local dealership or auto part store.

On my 99 intrepid it is located on the passenger side of the block above the oil fiter. That is the best that I can describe its location.

to be even more exact, it's on the passenger side adjacent to the motor mount; it'll have a green electrical connector. It takes a 19mm wrench to remove.

Hey Guys, I have recently had this problem as well and have replaced the sensor as it was covered in oil. The light is still coming on and the pressure is fine. The only thing is, my mechanic says he can't get a replacement wire. Is he full of it? Where can I get one and how do i go about replacing it. He says the only way to do it is to buy the whole harness. I don't even want to guess what thats gonna cost me. I appreciate any help
