MERKUR XR4Ti TURBO $850 SoCal!!!!!!
XRcist 03-02-2005, 07:49 PM I have a 1985 merkur xr4ti 5-sp 2.3 liter 4-cyl turbo and it runs fine for the most part. the turn signals dont work but everything else is functional. I started to mod it up but decided not to. it has a magnaflow 2.5" catback exhaust on it and the turbo is a T3 pushing around 11 lbs of boost right now but can easily reach 16-18 lbs. without replacing major stuff. a great project car!! the guy that had it before me spent around $5000 just restoring it and he was the original owner. i have all of the receipts. I just replaced the battery and the boost controller and it runs fine. im planning on buying a mustang so i need to get rid of it to make garage room ASAP! its located in rancho santa fe in san diego county. $850 and pick it up. for pics or any other info hit me up at demonstang3pnt8@aol.com or call 949 683 3844 this car is fun as hell to drive its RWD, turbo, and stick. thats a prime combo. check it out -MaTT- dampachi 03-13-2005, 04:09 PM Post pics. (760)787-5759 Thanks Chris nfg2184 03-16-2005, 02:53 AM Wow. Street glow eh? I would think a turbo, any turbo, would put out more than 110whp. Wait, that IS whp right? Not 110 at the crank I hope. Still, for the price, it's about what I expected. XRcist 03-16-2005, 09:48 PM Wow. Street glow eh? I would think a turbo, any turbo, would put out more than 110whp. Wait, that IS whp right? HighRev87 03-16-2005, 10:29 PM your girlfriends hot. +1 I would take it, if I lived in SoCal. Hell of a daily driver...sleeperish to, for what it is... FastTeen 03-19-2005, 01:31 AM ok. if you put a turbo coupe intercooler on there along with a 3 inch exhaust you'll more than likely hit around 225-250 at the flywheel and about 200whp....give or take. if it has the water AND oil cooled turbo than HOLY CRAP! you'll make some power. also side note: if it has the stock wastegate on it. it is a self adjusting wastegate....mich means it varies on how far in the trottle you are. but for anyone going to buy this master piece of ford performance....all you would have to do to bump up the power is get a turbo coupe thunderbird intercooler and slap it on. and you be making way more than 110whp. and the intercoolers are not that costly...at most $150 but most of the time I see them go for $50. also it's SOOOOO freaking esay to work on those engine. EDIT: also forgot, the stock block can handle 20psi of boost with out any problems. and the stock crank can handle 433hp. it also doesn't take a whole lot of cash to get these car's running 12's......also that engine is rated at i think 130-135. the one in mine(also for sale as parts car or rebuilder) is rated at 150 because it has the bigger injectors and oil/water cooled turbo.
