Heat/Air

I just bought a 1991 s10 blazer. It has a v6 2wd and 4.3l i think. My problem is this. At first the heat/air would not work at all. We replaced the fuse and now you can hear it come on when you switch from any of the vents or from hot to cold. You can barely and i do mean barely feel the air come from the vents. It has a new thermostat and fuse. It was like this when i bought it and we have very little knowledge of this problem. I would really like to narrow down the possibilities of what it could be and if possible fix it ourselves. I have read you can check the blower motor and how to do it, but is it easy to take off and check. and putting on another one is this also easy installation. And if that is not it then what might it be? It also has coolant (green). I just replaced top radiator hose due to crack. Best we can tell it is no longer leaking water so we don't think it is a hose. Less maybe it is clogged as i've heard talked about but would that affect it in this way. It being the same problem no matter if it cold or hot air has left me to believe that the blower motor is the next trial and error to check. Just thought i'd ask if their is anything else we might could check aside from that and if taking off and installing the blower motor is rather easy. If anyone has any diagrams of how this is done or anything else that might help i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for you time.

So you can't feel the fan blowing?

Can you change the direction of the air properly?

To the floor, front vents etc....?

I believe the vents are vacuum controlled. If they don't change position when you move the selector from defrost to vent or floor or whatever, you could just have a vacuum line not conected at the engine. It could also be stuck between positions causing very little air flow at any particular vent

If you look under the hood on the passanger side of the truck, you should find a black ball approx. 5-6 inches in diameter. Check to see if one of the vacuum lines has pulled off of the fitting or if the vacuum ball is cracked or broken. If you find a vacuum line is pulled off, simply plug it back on, if the ball is cracked or broken, go to a wrecking yard for a new one.

Regardless if the air is blowing through the vents or not, you should be able to tell if the blower motor is running if check it with the hood up.

Try this and post back.

There is one other thing that it could be, do you know if anyone might have tried switching out the blower motor already?
