I'm in massachusetts and dunno what the laws are. But could I pull out the cat out of my 74 to increase the HP? Would I need it for emitions or would it be alright without it? What are the consequences besides nasty exhaust and angry neighbors? : ) lEMME kNOW

NO CAT :evillol:
ITS SHOULD BE OLD FOR EMMISIONS,HEY WHILE YOUR AT IT YOU COULD RUN DUAL STRAIGHT PIPES. BUT NO CAT WOULD ANGER THE NIEGHBORS. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO BOOST HORSE POWER.
HAVE YOU TRIED:

HIGH-FLOW CAT & MUFFELER
HEADERS
COOL AIR INTAKE (CAN BE PICKED UP AT MOST AUTO PARTS STORES)
RAM AIR
SPIRALMAX.COM
EDELBROCK CARB &INTAKE MANAFOLD
SPLIT-FIRE SPARK PLUGS (I GOT A SET AT WAL-MART & THEY REALY, REALY HELP, MY 0-60 GOT QUICKER)
ADVANCE THE TIMING
MSD IGNITION SYSTEM

I already have TRUE dual exhaust, headers, and edelbrock intake. I have a holley 4 barrel. I just got this Nova about a year ago. I've driven it a few times, but it isn't registered or inspected. It runs ok but it feels kinda "beater"-ish. I think it still needs some fine adjustment. Thanks for the input though

Your gonna have to check with your state emmission laws. In my state, there are no emmission tests for anything over 25 years old. Your state is probably the same way. As far as gaining HP py getting rid of the cat, on "paper" you would but I doubt it will be enough for you to feel. You wouldn't notice it without a dyno pull, or possibly might see a slight difference at the track.

No, Don't Do It. Get A 383 Stroker,it's A H-o Version Of The 350 And It Puts Out 90 To 110 Extra Horses. 383 Stroker, Will Be Some What Hard To Find, cause It's An Ancient Engine Builder Secret. If You Cant Buy One Just Post A Message Asking How To Build One
& Maybe Some Pro Hot Roder Will Awnser

I found a 383 stroker on Ebay. It costs a pretty penny but sounds better than the 350. What about the 327? Can it put out more than the 350 if it were built properly?

I was beginning to wonder.....! What about Ac Delco rapid fires? Does anything other than your average $1 spark plug really do anything?
