1994 Blazer - 4 wheel drive button not working

I tried turning on the 4 wheel drive by hitting the 4hi button, but nothing happens. The light doesn't light up, so I'm not sure if it's on and I don't know it, or it's totally not working at all. Of course I noticed today since we're having mad snow up in NY. Any ideas on what I can try? The car really fishtails and slides a lot on side roads, so I need to get this fixed asap. I was thinking about taking it to the dealer to get it checked out, but figured I'd try here first. Thanks.

I have the same problem with my 92 S-10 Blazer 4.3. Put new vacuum switch in and still no go. Did you ever get yours working and/or what was wrong with it. I can't find my problem.

First off, you always know if your 4x4 works by pushing it to 4 Hi and driving it 2 feet, if it feels like your in sand your in 4 Hi....there has been several wiring issues with the push button 4 wheel drive models from 88' on up...it's not a fuse, but 9 times out of 10 a wire gets knocked loose and needs to be re-spliced...simple fix...check your wires, have them re-spliced and taped up very good....cheap fix...
