jdm turbo trannyMR2vsAMXbeast 02-28-2005, 10:01 PM I was wanting to know if the US 91' mr2 turbo tranny is different from the JDM 91'. Some of the things I have heard is that the jdm tranny has limited slip and can withstand 9,000 RPM's from the motor. What true and how much different are the two trannys? kevin TRD2000 03-01-2005, 02:38 PM ummm sounds like you mean the 93+ tranny... many came with LSD. mine's JDM and it has an E153 tranny... check your plate and it should tell you what sort you have. ac427cpe 03-01-2005, 03:19 PM they are the same. the difference in the e153 came w/ the 93+ models. you can get them from toyota w/ a lsd. MR2vsAMXbeast 03-08-2005, 10:12 PM The thing is, I have no "plate" or numbers anywhere on my tranny. The guy who sold it to me said he didnt know what year the tranny was. Does the 91 tranny come with a mannual or eletrical speed sensor? I have an eletrical one. Anyone's help is welcome thank you for your replies! TRD2000 03-08-2005, 10:16 PM manual. so it sounds like you have a later one. MR2vsAMXbeast 03-08-2005, 10:22 PM NICE! Does this mean LSD? TRD2000 03-08-2005, 10:27 PM no. MR2vsAMXbeast 03-08-2005, 10:29 PM oh... Well is there any other way I can tell if it's LSD or not? TRD2000 03-08-2005, 10:39 PM don't know... heard something about spinning one wheel and seeing if the other spins the other way but.... i'm guessing you havent put it in the car yet... MR2vsAMXbeast 03-08-2005, 10:41 PM your correct. It sits on my floor as we speak. JekylandHyde 03-09-2005, 09:22 AM Spinning the wheels will NOT tell you if you have LSD. The only way you can tell for sure is if you look through the casing and see the LSD obstruction. Also, what axles are you using? You will need different axles for LSD or not. Did the seller supply you with axles? MR2vsAMXbeast 03-15-2005, 11:41 PM no, i didnt get any axles. I think the tranny was stollen because the vin. numbers were takin off. I was thinking that i would have to replace the axles, but will the tranny still work if i use non lsd axles with a LSD tranny? JekylandHyde 03-16-2005, 06:06 AM Non-lsd axles will not fit correctly into the LSD tranny. MR2turbo93 03-16-2005, 10:59 AM i have a LSD how hard is it to change the passinger side axel(its going)? do you think i should go with upgraded axels, are they worth it if my goal is 250-300whp? JekylandHyde 03-16-2005, 12:47 PM I would jsut get the ATS Racing upgraded CV joints ... that is what typically fails at 300 rwhp. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
