I'm thinking about getting new exhaust for my camaro. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm looking for a more powerful sound than what the stock exhaust has.

magnaflow makes a nice cat-back for the 3.8 camaro.

i love magnaflow, got it on my ride. heard dynomax is decent, kindof cheap. the high end stuff is borla and slp loudmouth. im no fan of flowmaster, but i gotta put it up here cause it is an option. my opinion, for the sixers, is magnaflow. course im sure someone will dissagree...

in my opinion, flowmasters sound wonderful, but not on v6's... i love them on v8's but v6's just don't give me the right tone... go for the magnaflow they're talkin bout

magnaflow... 3 inch. lt1 cantback, since it will have the S-pipe that you'll need. Might want to get a high-flow cat while you're at it

the magnaflow that is made for the sixers is 2.5" tubing with straight through muffler. the LT1 exhaust is 3". i suggest you get the 2.5" exhaust, the 3" is a little much on the sixers.

Thanks for the input. Any idea on how much the 2.5" or the 3" would run me? (including paying someone to install it)

i got mine from www.thunderracing.com they have one of the best prices and awsome turn around. someone installin it will vary depeding on the shop you take it to...

i got my Magnaflow system from www.bigexhaust.com and i had it installed for 50 bucks. I would definately get the 2.5" as opposed to the 3".. you dont really wanna open it up that much, the 2.5 is also cheaper i believe. i think mine was like $350 for the cat-back, but i got mine 2 years ago.

Not many people put on DynoMax, but I like mine on my 3.4 I personally like the sound I get with them.

3" is cheaper, and isn't too much really on a 3.8 My magnaflow LT1 catback cost me 320, i got a magnaflow high-slow cat for like 35 or 40 bucks, and had meinekee weld it all on. they also had to install a bodd for the rear o2 sensor since i forgot to order the cat with one, and had to weld on a few inches extension cuz the cat I got was too short, ran liek 125 for all that. Normal install of a catback there is like 60 bucks.

If so then cut your muffler off and run straight pipes. The catalyic converter will quiet the motor down to the point to where it sounds like an 8 with flowmasters.

Simply get a grinder and cut the pipe going into the muffler. Ride around with it if you don't like it then go ahead and put on the borjla or magnaflow.

It cost you nothing and its not loud enough to get you into trouble. I done it to a 6 and fooled f body owners.

i dont think i would put 3" on my sixer, wouldnt want to loose any of that precious low-end torque. howd your car respond to the 3" 97?

Nicely, I didn't lose torque, gained top end, sounds great, and soon will have my lim slip 3.42s as well. As for cutting the muffler off, I did that after the gear install and rode around like that for a few days, No it's not TOO loud but it drones like no other. And IDK if it was because my car was sitting for a while or if it had to do with that muffler, but my gas milage was shit. So I woudn't recommend that. 3", better sound, performance, cheaper...

Just had a Flowmaster 80's Series put on my 99 3.8 and am very happy with the sound and the increase Hp!!! was about 260 for everything

yeah i got flowmasters also on mines and it sounds really good, but i've seen alot of 6's with flowmasters and they sound like damn honda's with the big ol fart pipe, drives me nuts, i guess it depends on the car<<<<shruggs shoulders

Flowmaster is what you should NOT get if you are concerned at ALL about performance. Worst flowing, with the exception of stock.

mines went to that from stock, and beleave me i didnt want it at all but it was a gift done while i was in philly visiting my family, its coming off this summer i think borla is in my future!

Borla is nice... Borla is expensive. Borla and B&B triflow are tok of the line, I like magnaflow cuz it's good sound, flow and power for not too much money. I hear good things about Hooker Aerochambers too but havent heard em/tried em myself.

Why does every body put down flowmaster so much??? I mean yeah there exhaust kits are not as expensive as Borla or Mangnaflow but they make a good product IMO. I think the main reason people knock Flowmaster so much is because everyone has them, But then again everyone has them for a reason price and sound quality.I went from stock to Flowmaster and noticed a hugh difference in sound and or excelaration. Oh well to each is own.

I love the way my flowmaster looks and sounds, I honestly don't see what's better about any of them, they all do the same thing.

i wont go that far to say they all do the same thing, i mean they concept is the same but just as anything else in life different brands and mostly the higher u pay will give u a bit more sound and performance.

I will try to find the studies if I can. Flowmaster is the worst flowing of the aftermarket exhausts for our cars at least. Also Geno we're talking about a v6 here flowmaster sounds a lto better an a v8 (well everything does)
