building a classic cardill_roy 03-22-2002, 01:10 PM what are the current laws that permit a vehicle to slip through emissions and street legality regulations? i know you can run straight pipes on any vehicle made before 1974 or whenever. you can also put superchargers on it and make it around 900hp for a pro street. but what about all those people who build hot rods with tons of power and get away with it. they are'nt even remotely similar to the original car. couldn't someone build a modern supercar, put an old engine in it and call it a 1969 corvette? i really need to know the laws on this kinda stuff and where to find it. i am seriously considering a project of the sort with fiberglass molding for the body and alluminum welded chassis.:sun: TheMan5952 03-26-2002, 02:19 AM I think it mostly has to do with when the frame and body were made originally. If your talking about a Kit car sort of thing. I would contact your local DMV. 0utlaw 04-27-2002, 02:55 PM My blind friend, who has built 9 classic cars, uses the year of the body. He uses a bill of sale from seller to him that is used for the basis of the registration. Never register it as a composite unless you have to cause you never want to pay sales tax on a new car. TheMan5952 05-01-2002, 01:09 AM yea, no sales tax here in oregon though vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
