Reverse Gauge install silverknight1311 02-27-2005, 05:50 PM
Hey all...I have a 2.2L Automatic 98 Cavalier and I want to get one of those reverse light gauge covers... http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=CV95CV%2D0413RGX&dbname=onlinestoreDB Something that has pissed me off since I got the car is that there is no RPM gauge... Is it possible to add the cover above to my existing panel by adding stuff and switching around the dials or do i have to get a seperate meter to show rpms? thanks 4dr92cavi4cyl 03-01-2005, 12:39 PM I don't think it would be possible, may be wrong. I would get this one... http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=CV95CV%2D1096RGX&dbname=onlinestoreDB and then get a custom tach mounted off to the side, big or small, whatever you like. 01Cavy 03-01-2005, 05:36 PM I bought a factory cluster with a tac to put in mine. When I get off my lazy ass and put it in I'll let you know if it works right off the bat. silverknight1311 03-01-2005, 08:08 PM Thanks, and Thanks...I like your choice for the gauge cover w/o the tach, and I just might get it. If the factory thing works then I'll be surprised and relieved. As for putting in an external tachometer, I've been reading that I need an adapter from some RK site or something as well as the tachometer and some way to mount it. Any suggestions as to what the price tags should hit for each part as well as any preffered parts? quake61 08-16-2005, 07:53 PM Thanks, and Thanks...I like your choice for the gauge cover w/o the tach, and I just might get it. Since it has been brought back from death I'll go ahead and add that the cluster swap worked with no extra wiring. I now have the factory cluster w/ tac and the tac works no problems. bh04 08-17-2005, 12:22 AM Holy shit I forgot about this post lol. So you didn't have a tach before.....you bought a new cluster, and now it works without doing anything extra? 4dr92cavi4cyl 08-17-2005, 12:57 PM Wow, that makes it easy. How much did the cluster cost you? Are you still gonna get the reverse glow gauges from ProCarParts.com? chevyguy93 08-17-2005, 06:06 PM Does anyone know where i could get reverse glow gauges in canada? Online, or at a store. I saw this http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=CV91CV%2D3410RGX&dbname=onlinestoreDB and i WANT IT! The only problem is that of course im in canada, and so its km/h, not mph =( 01Cavy 08-17-2005, 06:28 PM So you didn't have a tach before.....you bought a new cluster, and now it works without doing anything extra? Yep thats correct. Wow, that makes it easy. How much did the cluster cost you? Are you still gonna get the reverse glow gauges from ProCarParts.com? I bought it used off ebay for about $30. And no I'm not getting reverse guages...I never planed on it. I actually had them for my cluster when I didn't have the tac, but my gas guage didn't read right after I had installed it and I couldn't fix it.
