Driving a 91 MR2 without P/S and 17" rims?Autofreefindersguy 02-25-2005, 11:17 AM Hey guys, I am considering getting some 17"s on my 91 MR2 na. But it doesn't have power steering... Will the 17"s be a bear to turn? I do alot of City driving... Anyone have any experence with this? Thanks much for any imput... JekylandHyde 02-25-2005, 11:55 AM I would suggest a 215 wide tire ... as long as the rims are not excessively heavy, I do not think you will have a problem. Autofreefindersguy 02-25-2005, 01:28 PM Thanks much for the imput... Would you say 215's are ok in the front and larger in the back? Say 235's? JekylandHyde 02-25-2005, 02:53 PM That is exactly what I would recommend. I run a 215/16 on the fornt and a 235/17 in the rear. I personally do not like the way a 17" looks on the front of the MR2. If you get a wide enough rim, you could even go 245 in the back. Autofreefindersguy 02-25-2005, 02:56 PM Yeah, that would set off the look very well... Thanks much! drazhartd 02-27-2005, 01:45 AM I run 17x7" wheels 205/40 front 225/45 rear No problems, except with parellel parking ;) Autofreefindersguy 02-27-2005, 09:18 AM Man, yours is sweet too! HondaChili 02-28-2005, 02:06 PM just becareful not to go above 245 for the rear , i had to o with 255 recently because stpuid pirreli stop aking my size for the front (225/35) so now im running potenzas high performance... 255's will scrape ad u might have to shave off some screws that bolt on the mud guards. Also i have 235's in the front now and lemme tell u thats really pushing it, on lock to lock the wheels def rub the walls... sigh so many problems, anyone wanna trade their rims for a set of SSR Competitions (18/7.5 fr, 18/8.5 rear) ? im up for suggestions heh. MR2turbo93 03-01-2005, 08:43 PM Well I have 17X8's all around an i run 235/45 in the front and 255/40 in the rear with no problems what so ever (i'll try to get a pic). But i do have power steering. If it helps any my friend has a 96 civic with no P/S and heavy 17 and he said after he put them on it was a lot easier to turn even at low speeds that only time i got harder for him is when he came to a complete stop and tried turning while stopped. Autofreefindersguy 03-02-2005, 10:45 AM These are 215 40 17"s in front with 235 40 17"s in back... I will have the car back tommarow, can't wait! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
