For those of you who've had a problem getting your passenger side heated seat to work........as have I........I just found a service bulletin on it. Don't go pulling the switch or seat apart till you read this~!
Pay careful attention to the last sentence~!

Please read the following:

HEATED FRONT SEATS (If Equipped)

If you have this feature, the control is on the side of your seat. This feature will quickly heat the lower cushion and lower back of the driver and front passenger seats for added comfort.

Press the lower part of the switch to turn the heater on low. Press the upper part of the switch to turn the heater on high. Put the switch in the center position to turn the heater off.

The passenger's safety belt must be engaged for the heated seat feature to work on the passengers seat.

Heh, I should wire my heaters this way (complete the ground to the heater through the seatbelt) That way I won't get the evil eye every friggin time I demand that my passenger wears a seatbelt! LOL

Very sweet... I love it when you do this stuff because your write ups make it look so much easier. I finally finished my overhead console project yesterday, and that was quite a pain in the butt. I can't wait to see the "how to" on your v8 swap!

I dunno, when I did my OHC in my 1st gen (using a 98+ ohc) it took me less than 2 hours... Mounting was easy..

I ended up buying 4 different overhead console computers. The "mode" computers do not work in 96's for whatever reason... I just finished cutting wood and mounting it up yesterday. The stupid ebay instructions said that "mode" would work in 96+. People led me in all sorts of directions to find alternate vss sources, but the problem was the serial data signal. I ended up putting an "on/off" in instead.

Well, they do work on the 96, the issue is you have to use a 96/97 ohc display unit. What happenes is if you use the 98+ ones the data stops after 15-30 seconds. The reason for this is that they changed the class 2 serial data protocol in 98... You get the same issue when you put a pre 98 display in a 98+ truck...

vss=pin 3 (dk grn/white) on the black connector on your ECM for your truck (looking at the dealer print out of the ECM) you can pick up the class 2 serial data on pin 2 (PPL) of your ALDL or pin 11 (PPL) of the black connector on your ECM

I had 2 computers from 97 bravadas and one from a 2000 blazer. The 98+ "mode" computer would turn off in about 30 seconds, the 96+97 "mode" computers would turn of in about 10 seconds. I eventually settled with an "on/off" from a 2000 blazer. I first tapped serial data from pin 11 (ppl) of the "black connector", and then I tried pin 2 (ppl) of the drivers control connector and could not get them to work.
