Picked uo a 85 chevy blazer 6.2L diesel and drove it home. On the way the batteries went dead which in turn fried my alternator which made it cut off on the way home. Had it towed to friends house.

Replaced batteries, attempted to replace alternator with out unhooking the batteries like a dumb-ass. While screwing in the positive terminal to the alternator, the alternator slipped out of my hand and fell onto the metal parts of the engine. All I saw was sparks comming from a component on the firewall next to the drivers side of the engine and smelled the burning smell of stuff being fried.

I unplugged the battery terminal, negative only, and left everything that way it was. Gonna get it towed to a mechanic cuaze I give up + its snowing up here and I aint working in 20 degree weather.

What am I to expect from the mechanic, if hes even a honest one?
