i am looking to add some power to my 98' s-10 pickup. i was wondering what the largest ratio rockers i could install on my truck would be? i am concerned with spring bind/fatigue, valve-piston clearence, pulling out pressed in studs etc. i understand that i will not get the hp gains i would with a cam install but the rockers seem to be cheaper and are way easier to install. also would the stock pushrods work with the new rockers? i understand that they would have to be self aligning, and i beleive it has a 3/8" stud size. also are the stock arms roller fulcrum?

i am also looking for an inexpensive set of headers for the truck. all i can find are the gibsons and im not looking to spend an arm and a leg on exhaust.

any help is appreciated

If you can't afford to modify the motor properly just do a tune up (if required) and leave it stock.

Changing things like the rockers alone might give you a very small performance gain, but will more likely cause problems later that will cost you more to fix than the proper mod.

Headers will help, just watch E-Bay for a good used set

im just trying to get the motor to "breathe" better because this is the first step to adding future hp mods (i.e. supercharger, nitrous). i understand that this is not a racecar and im not looking for it to be one right now but maybe in the future. i just dont have the $300 for the cam install or the time to do it. the motor is running properly right now and just had a tune up about 47,000mi. ago. plus this is not a very good hp upgrade. i have installed an aftermarket intake, a flowmaster cat back, a shift kit, throttle body spacer, underdrive pulleys, summit fuel pump, and other small modifications. the truck now runs a 16.24 1/4 mi. e.t. and i feel that with the mods i have now that a cam would be the next step. but with the problems stated earlier i feel a larger ratio rocker would be the next best bet.
