Thinking of buying a 2000 explorer sport...Transmission though..FreeBaGeL 02-23-2005, 02:05 AM Hi, I'm thinking of buying a 2000 Explorer sport, but there's one issue. It's got 102k miles on it, which normally I wouldn't be *too* worried about in a used car for around 5 grand. However, I've had a couple mechanics tell me that the transmissions on the explorers tend to go around 100-120k miles. I drove it and it seemed fine, and has no history of transmission problems at this point. How true is this idea that the tranny's go around 100-120k miles, and in general how reliable is this vehicle? Thanks a bunch in advance. FreeBaGeL 02-23-2005, 08:03 PM No one has an opinion on this? Gravesubject 03-01-2005, 10:50 AM I have a '94 with 129,000 on the clock and no tranny problems. BlitzKeg 03-01-2005, 11:35 AM I have a 2001 sport and no problems at all, maybe the only problem was a waterpump about 90,000, but the truck now has 132,000. Its a good truck but like most vehicles it all depends on the maintence of the vehicle, It can last forever if you treat it good. Xplorer01 03-01-2005, 03:01 PM Blitzkrieg, I got a 2001 Sports as well....what color is yours, I got the rare Mandarin orange one Xplorer01 03-01-2005, 03:04 PM another thing, mind if u lend me ur yahoo/aim/or MSN messenger id so i can keep in touch with u?
