forced inductionMr.Molasses 02-22-2005, 08:03 PM Im looking at a 1991 n/a mr2 right now and i was wondering what kind of performance gains i would get out of a supercharger. I know that its a completely different engine but the mk1 had pretty good results with a supercharger. I was also wonder what the compression ratio was on the n/a so i could fugure out how much boost i can use. Is this worth it or should i just save for a turbo engine? JekylandHyde 02-22-2005, 10:07 PM It is not worth effort of boosting the NA MKII MR2 engine. It is cheaper, easier and better results to swap the turbo engine in .... or better yet, just buy the turbo MR2 to begin with :) Mr.Molasses 02-23-2005, 08:53 AM I cant find a turbo for sale within 300 miles. If I got a trbo engine that needed a rebuild could I supercharge it and get better low end and avoid lag? or would i get better results with a turbo like EVERYONE ELSE? Mr.Molasses 02-23-2005, 08:56 AM Oh and I just want to say, to JekylandHyde, for as long as ive been here you have answered all my questions and i just want to say thanks from me and everyone else i have seen you give help to. JekylandHyde 02-23-2005, 11:40 AM No problem, I really enjoy sharing information and I just love the MR2. If you are really interested in low-end torque and supercharging, you may want to seriously consider doing the Supercharged-V6 swap. A number of people have done it with a lot of success. If you check on www.mr2oc.com, in the MKII Forum there is a sub-forum on different engines to use. Mr.Molasses 02-23-2005, 09:11 PM I cant get to any of those forums. How much do i need for the v6 (engine, computer, wireing harness, gages?) and how much custom stuff would i have to do. JekylandHyde 02-23-2005, 10:09 PM You have to sign up for the MR2 board to view it ... I do not have a lot of the details for doing the swap. Mr.Molasses 02-24-2005, 08:45 AM I signed up but I never got the email to confirm JekylandHyde 02-24-2005, 08:56 AM Let me look into this for you ... Bill Strong 02-24-2005, 09:12 AM You have to sign up for the MR2 board to view it ... I do not have a lot of the details for doing the swap. I tried looking you up but cant find you.
