pros and cons about 2001/2002 x5
ggangtong81 02-22-2005, 06:48 PM hello, i am planning to get a x5 either 2001 or 2002. can you guys guide me through some of pros and cons about 2001/2002 x5? as far as i know, x5 is known for electrical problems and noise. anything else i should know before buying it? also, i heard that 2001 is more prone to electrical problems than 2002. is that true? thanks a bunch guys~!! Antiburn 02-22-2005, 09:53 PM well which morot size are you considering? 3.0 4.6 4.8 I know theres one more but Im brain dead right now. The 4.8 have a recall on the push rods I believe, therefore you would have to get an entire engine replacement. 3.0 Other then stupid noises which you can practicaly fix yourself there not bad. 4.6, same as the 3.0, just a bigger engine and more options. Ide take a 4.8 and get the recall done. Yea they cost more but 3.0 compaired to the 4.8 is like compairing a 4cyl to a super charged v8. Just FYI BMW didn't build the 4.8 in 2001 or 2002 and the 4.6 didn't come out until 2002. I think he's looking for a 3.0 or 4.4 X5. Although a fair amount of people have had problems with their 2001 X5, I've only had just a few minor problems that were fixed by the dealer at no charge. Over all my X5 has been very good and has been great to drive. It's like having a SUV but handles and feels like a sports car. IMHO I would get one w/o the sports package because the ride is too firm. If you want a slightly better ride than stock try upgrading the wheels to 19's. I found that the 19's gave a much better ride and handling w/o the jarring bounce you get from the sports package. AutomotiveHelper.com, Copyright ©2013
