radiator flush

ok so i tried flushing the system i installed the tee thing on the hose and i tied it down i put the hose in to flush it out and nothing comes out any clue what i could be doing wrong?

Did you wait for the engine to heat up? ...The thermostate will open at about 180 degrees.

Did you install the adapter correctly? The part that connects the water hose to the tee only lets water pass in one direction, if installed backwards no water will come out.

ok guys i think i just beeeeped up bad i think for some reason i cut the wrong hose. i must have cut one of the ac hoses and thats why no water was coming out. i looked at the hose and i was connected to the radiator though. there was one that went from the ac to the engine and another from the radiator to the engine thats the one i cut.

i checked the ac and air was blowing but not cold. so i close the cap on the tee and put some refridgerant in and pop the tee unplugged and and scared the shhhhh out of me. i messed up didnt i.

Sounds like it. If I can offer some advice, sometimes radiator a flush is best done by a garage, as the old stuff is difficult, if not impossible to dispose of legally. If our state there is no one except for specialty haulers who pickup for commercial garages that will take the old fluids. You can't dump them, and no parts company will touch it. Change oil and transmission fluids yourself. But radiator fluids are a pain for that reason. It's a shame because doing it is not that difficult unless you have a badly clogged system... Perhaps in other areas it is not so difficult. Also, get a service manual, even a cheap one like Chilton or Haynes as they will help you identify things you want to work on yourself.

ok i just had it checked at oreilleys and it was deffinitely a ac hose the thing that i am most afraid of is if i did some bad dammage by running water throught that hose. i tried putting the hose back togeather and ran some enfrion through it to flush out the water prhaps. i close it and no cold air. i did notice air coming out from the front vents and that never happene before. also i kept hering a short click every thirty seconds.

Any one know what i should do!!

You're definitely going to have to replace the A/C hose and probably the Drier. You will also need to have the entire A/C system flushed, evacuated and refilled with Freon before you will know if the compressor was damaged. With the pressure relieved from the cut hose, The low pressure switch should have prevented the compressor from turning, so you might possibly get lucky and not have to replace the compressor.

At this point, you'd be better off taking it in to a reputable A/C shop. I'm sure you do not have the tools nor the experience to do it yourself. I would not try to start the A/C again. :disappoin

The hose that you should have cut is either a 5/8 or 3/4 inch rubber hose, both of which are connected side by side at the firewall.

This is a good opportunity to stress the the need for a good manual to help you if you're unsure of exactly what you're doing. If all else fails, I have not been to an Auto parts store yet where the employees and even some of the customers are more than happy to spend a minute or two under your hood in the parking lot to answer a quick question. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked. :smile:

i really dont use the A/C much it still has to get fixed i got some money comming in soon and hopefully i can fix this problem. Ill keep posting to let you all know whats going on
