97' Lumina (Fixed it..) But another Problem..HELP!!Lumina97MD 02-22-2005, 04:19 PM First off, I want to thank everyone for their input with my previous problem. The car just needed a new battery, so its up and running now but another problem arose.... (I hit a curb on the drivers front side tire. Fixed the tire and rim, but now when I drive it it makes a loud sound..) Now when I accelerate the vechicle there is a loud cranking sound the faster I accelerate. Its kind of like the sound a weed whacker makes with a crank added in it haha. I don't know what could be the problem. Could I have damaged the axel? I have no idea. If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the constant trouble. (To make a long story short..) - Hit a Curb and destroyed a tire&rim - Batter had low juice, wouldnt turn over - Fixed tire & rim, replaced battery. - Now car makes real funny noise when accelerating. And its comming from the driver side front. cadgear 02-22-2005, 05:47 PM Just on acceleration, or coasting as well? I'm thinkin' CV joint or driveaxle. Hard to diagnose noises via internet. Lumina97MD 02-22-2005, 10:12 PM Thats true, I can't really describe sounds on here. The best I could put it would be it sounds like when you stick somthing in a fan and it makes that "buzzing" noise. And its on acceleration only, when I left my foot off the pedal the sound still occurs but dies down. I hear it might be the bearings but I'm unsure. It doesn't make the noise when I reverse it, but in drive it does. And you can clearly tell its comming from the side of the accident. What should I do if its the bearings. Im in college so I have to watch my money wisely. My father said either diagnostic and fix it or we'll look for a new car. I love my Lumina, I just dont know. -How much would it range ($$$) to fix the berrings? -How much for the axel? Also now, when I shift gears there is a hardddddd kick, like it shakes the car when I shift. I just went outside to see what else might be wrong. Theres definiately a hard kick when shifting and the engine sounds like its reving up when in "park". Tranny problem maybe? Please anyone, if you could give a cost estimate it would be great. Thank you for you help too man, if I figure this all out I'd f'n mail you money haha. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
