Can anyone shed some light on the life-span of alternators for a 2000 Expedition E.B.? 2nd one has gone bad in less than 19 mos. At the tune of 235.67 (with exchange) this is getting costly

have you tried taking it to a rebuilder and having it rebuilt. I just had my 99 expedition alternator rebuilt completely and it only cost $90. You could also try putting a heavy duty alternator on if they make one.

Thought about doing just that until I came across "The Monster 215 amp Dual Rectifier MITSUBISHI alternator" for Ford heavy duty vehicles and SUVs. Thoughts?
