our 99 driver side seat is not working. Don't think it is motors or fuse. Has anyone had problems with wiring?

i have the same exact problem with my '99 expedition. turns out i have a faulty wire connector (dealer diagnosed). not sure if it is burned/shorted out, melted or what. can you believe they wanted over $250 to repair it! i'll take care of it when i get a chance (seat is fine for now). anyone else experiencing this?

Yep......my seat used to move forward just fine, and would only move back after messing with the switch for 5-10- minutes. Now it seems to not want to move forward or back without fiddling' with the control. The problem is the wife drives it every once and a while and I dread her changing the posisition. Never can tell if I am going to get it back to my setting. I was hoping to change out the switch myself. Has anyone ever tried to change it out on their own?

Sorry for such a late post to this thread. But FYI, the front seat control switch was $49 and it took me 10 minutes to change out. Good to go.

Our 2000 Expedition front seat just went out...The seat is all the way forward and will not budge..at the same time the automatic side ,mirrors also will not budge...I went to the dealer...Are you sitting down...They quoted me $700.00 maybe...They say the computer has to be fixed..the motor under the drivers seat has to be replaced...and thats just for starters...oh and the diagnosis to see if that is the problem will cost $75.00.....They didnt even give me a quote on the mirrors yet..Any suggestions!!!!!

Jonah1975-
Start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's. Gets confusing when a thread refers to problems of more than one car.

My power drivers seat on my 2001 Ford Expedition XLT quit working this year. However, it wasn't wet wires since the motor still worked fine and you could hear it rotating the sprocket under the seat. My problem ended up being the Seat Motor Asmbly. Ford now assembles their seat motors with the track as one unit. So if your motor runs but wont move the seat, you must replace the whole Motor/Track unit now.
