Hate to say it, but I'd look there then, since recently rebuilt. Did the problem exist prior to the rebuild?

If not, it sounds like some pressure may be being sent in reverse; some trannies won't shift into OD until warm. Since yours shifts fine until warm, sounds backwards.

OK so didn't shift after 20 mins even BEFORE the rebuild?

I'd have to say I'm not sure and I'd be going to a trans shop, even though expensive. Once they're done you shouldn't have to worry about the trans for as long as you own the vehicle.

does a dodge transmission pump fluid while it's in park

Yep; the trans fluid not only performs the shifts, but provides the internal lubrication for the tranny.

But does a dodge transmission pump fluid while it's in park? I don't think it does does it? Only when the truck moves right?

The pump is still pumping but the converted is not getting charged thats why you have to check it in "N" If some one puts a transgo shift kit in like I do then you can check it in park because of the new manual valve and holes being drilled in the Valve body. Now the converted is charged at all times help so it does not wear out the pump bushing

i was wandering because in nov. last year i check fluid level, fluid was about a half a quart over full so i disconnected line at radiator to drain, started truck nothing pumped out till i put it in gear,u would think it would pump at all times even in park to keep tranny cooled off,and to keep every thing lubricated
