93 to 95 4.3 swap

I recently but a 93 engine into a 95 truck. various sensors were in different places, and we put the crank pully, timing cover and distributer from the 95 into the 93 engine. However I did not change the intake manifolds. The truck runs well but I get a "service engine soon" message that's triggered by the camshaft position sensor. I've fooled around with the distributor placement somewhat without success. Original engine was a W series. The question is, does the 95 W have multiport injection requiring me to change manifolds? Thanks.

You did an ok job, but you should use the 95 lower intake as it has the locking pin for the distributor. Also how was the reluctor when you pulled it off the 95?

I'm pretty sure it was ok. The 95 was running great until my son ran it with no coolant and cracked a head.

Swap the lower intake to the 95 one so the distributor locks properly. Change out the sensor, clear the code.

thanks. I'll let you know how it works out.

OK, done. error message gone. The 93 lower manifold looked the same to me except for the locking pin. Was it multi-port or just injected on two sides?

It was based on the locking pin and the computer looking for the distributor at a precise location. The 95 w/ side mounted distributor cab is a locked system and the computer expects that because its fully computer controlled.
