I know Everyone must ask this but what do I do when Importing a Skyline. I'm planning on buying a 93' GTS skyline from a Japan Insurance company in which the car was stolen and found only missing the cd player, and a few marks on the rear bumper (easy fix). But the car is being sold for 2000 US dollars and is shipped to Columbus Ohio (Nearest Terminal to me). But I need it to be street leagal in the US...What do I do??? And what will it cost

nothing. you cant legalize a skyline at this point in the US. read the numerous threads on this one.

Can I have the car shipped to MotoRex and then to Columbus? Or do I have to have to buy it from there...Also they have a guy who finds them for a fee of 500 I think. What can I do

Motorex the only company that could legalize them is gone out of bussiness and you cannot get a Skyline in the U.S. at this point because of it. RB motoring is a potential company willing to step up and take motorex place and pick up where they left off. Check out the other threads.

Thanks a lot everyone...I may just buy it to have as a "Race/Show" car. Driving it only a little portion and takin the risk

You cant bring it in as a show car. Its already been proven elgible to import for road use and cars imported for race use cn only be imported temporarily.

Oh and if they catch you driving it illegaly they will crush it.

Car crushed, thousands of dollars in fees, and possible jail time... Wow, thats a horrible 'Cons' list.

Now lets look at the 'Pros' list... You get to drive a Skyline.

You weigh them out my man... Is it really worth it?

After you have driven a GTR, I would/will take that chance, if I have to come back.

i love it when kids come in here thinking they are the shit. yea maybe you have a few connections in the midwest, but how do you get the car to ohio? once the car is shipped to the US, customs is going to hold the car until the USDOT signs off on it, and they wont sign off on it until it goes through motorex, and motorex is no longer in business. now thats what i call a chain reaction. you may have the top down screamin out money aint a thang, but you aint gettin the skyline. trust me.

Let the kid live his dream. If he can do it, more power to him.

It sucks, but that is how the world is ran. Knowing the right people.

... Silly point jmrev

Ksully, Im sorry to tell you... But there is no way to get a Skyline into the country now... Post-1980 rather.

If you try and import it for Race/Show uses only, then you have to have a reasonable list of races the car will attend, have detailed data on each race, etc.

And the absolute maximum you can keep the car for, is 5 years. So is this really worth it?

Just be patient... And you'll get your Skyline.

2014 is slowly comming up :D. and until 2014, you can wait another 5 years or so and get an r31 drifter :D.

Only nine more years guys... I was almost thinking, why not buy one now while they're in generally good shape, and put it into storage over in Japan until it is eligible.

Granted, you wouldnt be able to go see it, or check on it periodically... But still, it would stay in good shape.

... Thats actually not a bad idea, Im going to start looking into it.

I thought about doing that with a different car but storing it in Canada when its legal there in 2 more years. I am still considering it. Look into it and tell me what you find. As far as expenses and other things.

Because it is wicked expensive (400+ US Dollars a month) for vehicle storage. At least everywhere I have looked.

Ive been thinking about doing this for months. I would change my mine on and off thinking about the down sides and all the possible issues. It is away to get a car while its in decent to good shape though. Imagine finding a car you want in good condition after 25 years or finding the car you want at all if any are left. Thats like someone who wants to find an all originally 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 or dodge charger with the hemi. Not with out paying alot of money to a restorer for a nice one or one restored to excellent like new condition.
