My truck dies at idle and have been told to clean the idle air valve. So what does this puppy look like and where is it located?

I just had the same problem with mine on my 99 1500. I'm assuming that they're probably located in the same spot on the back of the throttle body facing the firewall. Two star head screws to remove it. However after taking mine out and cleaning it, I wound up replacing it anyways and still had the same problem. It turned out that it was'nt the idle air valve after all but a badly corroded negative battery cable. This affected only the idle, strange I know, but once I fixed that it solved everything. Make sure if you do take the valve off to also disconnect the negative battery cable to allow the computer to reset.
