JIC-Magic CoiloverG22DET 06-30-2001, 02:24 PM Ok, here are the pictures for the JIC Coilovers for the P11 Primera. Installation was a breeze. After the install, the first thing I noticed is that the car doens dive or squat when accelerating/braking, allows me to take corners smoother and faster. The suspension is very stiff, the spring rate is 10kg/cm at the front and 8kg/cm at the rear...super stiff!! The size of the piston rod is about three times as thick compared to the TEIN ones and the whole thing is about an 1.5inches shorter than the TEIN unit. The result? AMAZING!!! Although I havent test it on a track yet (July 7th I'll be at Streets of Willow) while driving around the streets, i dont not feel any understeer taking corners. I have tremendous controll of my car and the JIC unit is very very responsive. Turn in response is uncomparable to the TEINs, the car had little sway even in the hardest turns and as I go faster into each turn, it made me realize i can go even faster the next time around. Final word, the TEINs are nice....it's the perfect street set up with VERY soft ride (even on stiff settings) and allows you to feel sporty with the car. The JIC are race coilovers. I love the stiffness and the performance of it is just amazing. I will let you guys know how it did on the track and compare the lap times between the TEINs and the JIC...the JIC will yield far better lap times. Enjoy the pics G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:25 PM JIC on top of my washer/dryer G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:26 PM notice the size of the piston rod....JIC kicks ass!!! G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:27 PM before... G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:27 PM after.... G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:29 PM bad picture...but notice the pillow ball mount G22DET 06-30-2001, 02:31 PM JIC thumbs up. TEIN thumbs down. Notice the springs for the JIC compared to the TEIN...can you say short and stiff? Also notice how short the JIC is compared to the TEIN. Suspension travel also increased for the rear despite the shorter length of the unit. (picture is the front ones) kenchan 06-30-2001, 02:49 PM lookin goood!!! looks like a trophie. :D those JICs are probably comparable more to the TypeHA's or TypeRA's. My HA's with upper pillow mounts on my 98 Prelude are much better quality than the TypeNA's, no doubt. the NA's are more for dressup, imo. NA's are working great on my G since it's just for looks. the stiff ride does feel good, don' it? :D let us know how many sec you knock off at the track. the upper pillow mounts do improve the overall handling of the car. gets rid of that squashy feeling. are you getting any spring compression noises from the pillow mounts? ok, so when is G-force gonna get himself a set of them REAL coilovers??! :D gahahahahaha. j/k b-b00gie 06-30-2001, 04:04 PM Luke, i'm sueing!!! You did not get "expressed written consent" to use my Tein's in your photos!!! lol.... :D zerogee321 06-30-2001, 04:58 PM So.. who carries them, where do I buy them? C'mon, don't hoar these things all to yourself! :D For those who remember me, the Team Dynamics are off the car, another CF hood is on the horizon. I saw the post that I dropped off the face of the earth and haven't updated my webpage.. I have been planning mercilessely to upgrade the car, its just the amount of cash I spent last year on the car made a dent in the wallet ya know? Lemme know about the coilovers puhlease. Also, I have a set of 17x7 one piece Racing Hart C2's I am looking to get rid of, I got them then didn't like the look so time to try a different set of wheels. :) Henry http://1phatg.innernot.com ViEt-G20 06-30-2001, 05:15 PM what springs come with the setup?... eibach?.. G22DET 06-30-2001, 05:25 PM The TEIN Type NA is not just for dress up...it's the PERFECT street suspension. Nice ride and GREAT handling performance over the stock set up and it's the best for street wise. The JIC coilovers are also better than the TEIN Type HA/HR version mainly because of better piston and valves inside the struts. Zerogee....I beieve this is Henry? This is Luke and remember the shop that I run? I can get EVERYTHING, espeically Japanese stuff. Let me know! b00gie....hahaha...*Disclaimer* (The TEIN Type NA Suspension belongs to Mr. b00gie, any misuse, misplace, misrepresentation, misconduct, misreplication of the above photographs will followed by legal action that is conductable through Mr. b00gie's personal decision) ok...so i am not a freaking lawyer heheheh :D G22DET 06-30-2001, 05:31 PM haha..what are you smoking viet-G20.....they are JIC coilovers...thus those are JIC springs. I think besides b00gie, no one knows what suspension these are....the JIC are only available in Japan up until couple of month ago. They have their own race team in Japan and competes in various Japanese races such as the JTCC, N1 cups, Japanese GT league. b-b00gie 06-30-2001, 06:45 PM welcome back henry!! hehe... you can get the JIC coilovers through Luke (G22DET).... he runs www.digitalracer.com they're one of the FEW shops that started retailing the coilovers. JIC finally got a US distributor a few months ago and they got their first shipment of orders last month. JIC makes top of the line racing suspensions in Japan. I was thinking of getting these, but they are pretty damn stiff!!! I dont mind a stiff ride at all, but there's sooooo many potholes and horrible roads near me that I cant get this setup at this time... I used to run the Koni/GC setup like Henry but found that a tad stiff on the bumps and a little squeeky... the Teins are supposedly the best street ride as they feel like a stock suspension, but lower and more suspension travel. The Teins are height adjustable, but not by a threaded sleeve, you must select the height before loading the spring. If I ever move to a smoother area, I'll probably get the JIC's... btw Henry, I've done almost $5000 worth of business with Luke in the past 2 months.. he can get anything, and is dependable... peace.. primera man 06-30-2001, 10:43 PM Originally posted by zerogee321 Also, I have a set of 17x7 one piece Racing Hart C2's I am looking to get rid of, I got them then didn't like the look so time to try a different set of wheels. :) Henry http://1phatg.innernot.com :D ...So Jason is right, you change your wheels like you change your socks !!!!...lol Welcome back dude :) kenchan 06-30-2001, 10:58 PM yah, better pistons, how the hell do you know? you don't got one! zerogee321 06-30-2001, 11:11 PM yeah yeah, so sue me. LOL actually, this all came about because my freaking TOYO tires failed on me and they didn't want to replace them.. some jack@ss said.. "hey, why don't you get new wheels?" i of course listened, bought a set of 1pc C2's and now i don't want them.. stuck with them of course so they are never going to make it on the car and they are up for sale already. bad huh? :) ky_infiniti2000 07-01-2001, 12:15 AM are these available for the P10 g20s? b-b00gie 07-01-2001, 02:08 AM ky, yep.. they have both the SF-1 and SA-1 for P10's... the SA is the same as the SF, but in addition the SA's have 5 way adjustable dampers (ie.. adjust the stiffness) ken, not sure who/what that comment was directed at?? G22DET 07-01-2001, 06:17 AM Ken...assuming that i do OWN a shop and i do SELL tein products...one would ASSUME that i know that the TEIN Type HA/HR series has smaller piston rod than the JIC G-Forces 07-01-2001, 06:55 PM Originally posted by G22DET Ken...assuming that i do OWN a shop and i do SELL tein products...one would ASSUME that i know that the TEIN Type HA/HR series has smaller piston rod than the JIC ...and I ASSUME that my CP-035's are on the way. :D :D :D kenchan 07-02-2001, 01:47 PM and I ASSUME Luke is in trouble for the "thumbs down" on the NA's. hehehe. :D I own a shop, I know NA's are PERFECT for the street! hehehehehehehe. :D you crack me up man. (not making fun of ya, just kiddin' around as always). gforce- damn!!! you gonna go racing again now aren't ya. :D G22DET 07-02-2001, 02:46 PM why would i be in trouble ken? I am speaking from track experience on the teins...not just hearsay like many others. most people will tell you that the TEINs are the best set up for the street after they have tried different ones. what trouble am i in? Jason...it's been on order...soon soon..hehe :) b-b00gie 07-02-2001, 02:51 PM hehe.. dont feel bad jason.. my friend has been waiting for those wheels for his Si and its been about a month.. i think there's a shortage lol.. kenchan 07-02-2001, 06:21 PM luke- because you're selling those tein's to someone (right?) and you told them that it basically sucks vs JIC with your thumbs up/down gestures, so it looked like you were covering your behind... dat's all. ;) are you gonna kick my ass now???   b-b00gie 07-02-2001, 06:36 PM hehe.. i was the one who bought them ;) i know the JIC's are higher quality, BUT they're as stiff as stiff can get, which is why they're not for me... from what some other people (excluding Luke) have said, they are the best street option for P11's... lower, more suspension travel, better handling, and near stock comfort... i think thats all Luke was trying to re-itterate G-Forces 07-02-2001, 07:13 PM I've gotta agree with Luke on the TEIN's on the track issue. They suck! The spring rates are WAY to soft for aggressive track driving. Even on the auto-x course I'm having trouble with terminal understeer....even after I cut my bump stops and raised it to the second to last setting. The ride on the street however is now FANTASTIC for the amount the car is lowered. So yes I agree, excellent street setup. Conclusion for the TEIN NA's? Street: Perfect. Track: Sucky. kenchan 07-03-2001, 02:06 AM well said and done. them TEIN's keep a smile on my face on the streets. :D I even have the soft springs so I kickback relax and enjoy the ride while I watch them civic boys boppin and hoppin and jumpin and bummin :D stiff is good too, but by da time I get to work, my hair will be messed up again. nyuck nyuck nyuck. G22DET 07-03-2001, 08:29 AM hmm...it's strange, the more i drive the car i realize that the ride isnt all that stiff....but due to higher dampening and rebound force, the car gets kinda bouncy over lumpy roads. driving over cracks and uneven pavement seems just a tad more stiff than the TEINs...more bounce than stiff. anyway, cant wait till this saturday!!! kenchan 07-03-2001, 01:18 PM luke, you break-in those JIC's already? man, you must drive like 100miles a day. :smoker: G22DET 07-03-2001, 01:38 PM i do drive a lot....about 60miles a day....i like driving though :) redhurley 07-10-2001, 06:15 AM Hey Luke, How much can you get the JIC's over here for? Let me know...I'm really interested in them...also you have a phone # I can get in contact with you? You can email me at donaldwa@usc.edu. Also, by chance did you grow up in the Torrance area? Later -Don redhurley 07-10-2001, 06:17 AM oh ya also, what kind of shocks would you recommend running with the JIC's? Do they come with shocks too? b-b00gie 07-10-2001, 07:30 AM The JIC's are a complete full coilover system. You can see what they look like in the first page of this thread. They replace your stock strut/spring assemblies. www.digitalracer.com --> "Contact Us" --> Luke's magical phone number :flash: kenchan 07-10-2001, 08:01 AM luke -did you knock off some seconds at the track using the JIC's? :D now you need stickier tires, huh? hehehe. G22DET 07-10-2001, 08:57 AM my previous lap time was 1:52 with the TEINs...was able to get it down to 1:49 or so...but i know with more runs, i can go faster cuz the last time i've been to this track was about 7 months ago...we travel to different tracks around cali...so i was still refreshing my mind about all the correct lines to take. need new windshield :( kenchan 07-10-2001, 11:52 AM luke- damn! whoppin' 3sec + off, huh? hehehe. dat's cool :D got hit by a rock on the way? sucks man. :( G22DET 07-10-2001, 11:56 AM no, didnt get hit by a rock on the way...the crack was there since last year, no idea what hit me...didnt even know there was a crack until my friend pointed out. kenchan 07-10-2001, 01:10 PM dang, sucks man. :( born in japan, educated in europe, now teined in chicago. hehe. :D redhurley 07-10-2001, 03:41 PM hey Luke, why is it that I can never get www.digitalracer.com to load up...i've tried 2 different computers, and it still doesn't work. G22DET 07-10-2001, 04:20 PM sorry....our T1 line was done...but it's up and going again!!! so buy buy buy...oh i mean, you can visit the site now.... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
