Row row row your Xterra.....cmxterra 06-29-2001, 11:30 PM rrdstarr 06-29-2001, 11:59 PM So...what ARB snorkel did you adapt to fit the Xterra? I would love to see pictures of that install! Thanks cmxterra 06-30-2001, 12:06 AM It is the Safari Snorkle designed for the Nissan Navara. The most difficult part was making a fitting so that it fit to the factory airbox. xterrabull 06-30-2001, 01:51 AM By my reckoning, your alternator is about 6-8" under water; what gives???? Schludwiller 06-30-2001, 02:48 AM Since he didn't upload it. :D OffroadX 07-03-2001, 11:08 AM Originally posted by xterrabull By my reckoning, your alternator is about 6-8" under water; what gives???? Doesn't guarantee you'll kill it. Fresh water isn't too nasty, especially if it is clean/clear. Churning up silt or getting stuck in a hole full of ooze is far more likely to kill an alternator than simply dunking it in clear fresh water. Brent Mobycat 07-03-2001, 11:47 AM Speaking of which, Brent...Synchro was mentioning about finding a 95-98 Pathy to inspect the mounts (for a swap). I have a friend I used to work with who has one - it's 2wd. If I can get a hold of him, I might be able to look/take pics. What all info is needed on this? Synchro 07-03-2001, 01:17 PM i could not remember the years that you mentioned brent. if this is at all possible, i would really like if we can go after this one. and since you, brent, have so far done the most on this one I was wondering what i can do to help if you are interested in taking it to completion. I am going to talk to my tech at rosenthal when i am in there for the 30K mile service. this may be a good mod to get take rosenthal up on thier offer to use the garage and techs. dunno. thoughts anyone? Any mod is a good one to take up Rosenthal's offer. :) OffroadX 07-03-2001, 02:05 PM I posted the part numbers I think we'll need on XOC, I'll dig it up later. As for looking over a Pathy, I think any will do with the 3.3 under the hood. At the minimum we'll need to get a good luck at the PS pump situation by pulling the splash/skid plate and verifying that the pump has a separate bracket, then compare the mounting to our alternator bracket. A co-worker has one but I don't think she would be to keen on me taking a wrench to her truck for something even that non-intrusive. I have used it as a visual reference for what it's worth already. The trickier part will be assessing the Pathy alternator / X PS pump mount. There's only so much you can see from above. What would really help is to pull the radiator and get a good look at the whole picture, which would mean draining the coolant, refilling, and bleeding the system, no huge deal. What might be the kicker is the A/C condenser, I'm not sure if it can be manipulated out of the way to look/work (if even necessary) without the risk of venting the system, which would get rather expensive to repair/recharge. I know a yard that has a few 3.3L Pathy motors and I'll see if I can't get by it and see if I can look them over, perhaps even pull the brackets we'll need if the price is reasonable. Hell, might be able to score a spare alternator while I'm at it :) Probably won't get a chance to go by until Saturday. You might want to tickle Rosenthal and see if we would be able line up an evening later this month, looks like service is open 'til 7 weekdays and 3 Saturday. Brent Synchro 07-03-2001, 02:38 PM heya philosopher, doesn't top dog have a pathy with this engine in it? i wonder if he would give us some time under his engine looking at things? Philosopher 07-05-2001, 11:35 AM Originally posted by Synchro heya philosopher, doesn't top dog have a pathy with this engine in it? i wonder if he would give us some time under his engine looking at things? Yeah he's got a '98 ... although I haven't spoken to him in months. I've emailed hima few times but he's never responded so I'm not sure what's up with him. Chris_McCracken 07-06-2001, 08:35 AM My girlfriend has a 97 Pathfinder SE. It came without much documentation at all. How can I tell if it hasd the 3.3 in it? (or do they all?). She'd let me poke around in there for a little while, as I'd like to do this mod if its possible (especially once I get a high-end alternator, don't want to replace that). OffroadX 07-06-2001, 09:21 AM The '96 and up Pathfinders definitely have the 3.3, perhaps a few years older, not sure. They started with the 3.0 initially. I'll know more about all of this tomorrow, going to have a hands-on with some Pathy engines at a junkyard and take some pictures too. Brent OffroadX 07-06-2001, 10:11 PM I'm taking the PS/Alternator swap discussion to a new thread in the Drivetrain section... Brent OffroadX 08-28-2001, 12:53 PM Why did this thread suddenly rise to the top, and stay there??? Brent Schludwiller 08-30-2001, 01:03 AM I have no idea. What's with the "important" text? Wasn't me. Sux2beU 06-11-2003, 08:08 AM Wow just how deep can U sink an Xterra? I was out playing an I got my passenger side to the head light in some murky chit. I did clean it up an hour after inside and out. Any advice or tips? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid65/p789c6eefbb000c1bd571567456cfb90a/fbf4f270.jpg cmxterra 06-11-2003, 08:24 AM Originally posted by Sux2beU Wow just how deep can U sink an Xterra?
