Carburetor Electronics Question - Carb Swap (Holley)PeteA216 02-18-2005, 08:09 AM Hi, If I were to swap the rochester carb I've got now in my '84 305 for a holley, what would I do with the electronic plugs? If I don;t hook them up to anything will the computer think theres something wrong and give me and engine code? Do they even make holleys with the electronic components? Thanks! 94-9c1-lt1 02-20-2005, 04:04 PM You may get a check engine light. but you should try to find a carb with the electronics, even though they can cost 2-4 times more. It will be worth the hp gains and it will be more reliable. Or you could trash all the computer components and go all mechanical...a lot more work but easier to work on in the future PeteA216 02-21-2005, 01:25 PM I looked in some local auto parts stores (Auto Zone, Advance Auto, Napa, Nu Way) An for a Holley with the electronic components, its gonna be over $250.00. Does anybody know where I could get one cheaper? I tried eBay, but nothing with the electrinics. It doesn't have to be new, or even in working condition (although I prefer it to be working). I could always rebuild it. Any help, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! burnM 02-22-2005, 01:25 AM Just curious, but why swap the Q-jet? The cost to rebuild it isn't that much, and they are a great carb if set up properly. PeteA216 02-22-2005, 04:09 PM I was told that it would give me a little more power because the jets are the same in all four chambers, as opposed to the q-jet, which has great jets in the frint 2 chambers, but in the bigger, back two chambers there are the less sensitive/responsive jets that just look like a tube sticking out. It makes sense to me, but whats your opinion on this? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
