i tried changing out the serpentine belt on caravan but adjuster is all the way to the top and the belt is still lose. any cross reference on a shorter belt? or am i doing something wrong.

i tried changing out the serpentine belt on caravan but adjuster is all the way to the top and the belt is still lose. any cross reference on a shorter belt? or am i doing something wrong.

Check to make sure the belt is routed correctly. There should be a belt routing diagram plackard somewhere in the engine compartment, my 92 has it on the hood. I can't remember where my 88 had it. The other thing to check is to make sure you got the correct belt, parts stores have been known to sell the wrong stuff by mistake, otherwise your tensioner may be bad. Good luck!
