I made it my mission in december to put bucket seats in my 93 s-10. It has been too cold and finally today i felt the 40 degree temps were enough. I went to take out the original bench seat and i got 3 of the nuts off. The last nut is stripped. Does anyone have any advice on how to get that nut off. I dont have adequate room to drill the bolt out. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Thanks everyone.

vice grip pliers clamped super tight... hammer plyer handle ... attach other vice grip to 1st grip handle, or pipe, for more leverage ... iodine is best penetrant i've used that worked when oil nut looseners failed (it's thinner then thinnest oil), some say coke or pepsi which takes longer ... pencil point propane torch on nut to expand it ... then i've dropped iodine in nut thread seem until it stopped evaporating and done above to budge it.

Cut off wheel if you have a air compresser.

i'd use a socket one size smaller than it is supposed to be, it works well for me.

recip saw, and just cut the seat bracket, then it's an easy job once the seats out of the way.

Unless you have an air impact gun, put the three nuts back on, take it to a garage, and ask them to try to get it off for you.( most garages have one guy who loves a challenge) shouldn't charge too much if anything at all. While your there, you should ask them to loosen the seatbelt bolts as they are a pain to do also. just finished putting bucket seats in my truck and encountered the same problem. if you don't have the seats and seat brackets out of another S10, be prepared to do some fabrication on the brackets and take your time. you dont want to get these things in there crooked and off center. Seat belts may also become an issue if you get the mounting brackets in the way. take your time, make good decisions, and you will be happy with the outcome. Good Luck!

just remember not to use grade 8 or stainless steel bolts when you get it all going your way

I hope you are telling us what a chisel kindda looks like, not what to use in place of one. A screw driver IS NOT a chisel, and a chisel is not a screw driver. Screwdrivers are made with a plastic handle that can shatter. A good metal chisel does not have a seperate handle. Screw drivers are made of brittle metal that can break easily. Chisels are made with a softer metal that won't shatter.

Maybe I should stop telling people stuff like this... get 'em out of the gene pool. Ever use a cigarette lighter to open a froze shut gas cap?
