get a puller and a longer crank bolt. that always works for me, just don't use an air wrentch on the puller cause it ruins the threads.

An easy but risky way is to put a breaker bar on the bolt, wedged against the floor, and bump the starter. BUt the motor has to be assembled (timing belt etc) since you will be turning it over, and its risky. Dont break a leg and blame me. Otherwise, a real strong impact gun will do nicely. In the absense of that, put the car in gear so the motor cant turn, and get a looong breaker bar/pipe to bust it loose. If the motor is on a stand wedge something in the crank counterweights if the pan is off, or install two flywheel bolts and wedge a bar between then to hold the carnk. I already posted all this a little while back, it would have taken you less time to search for it than it took me to retype it all, now that I think about it :)

SOB!!!!that bolt is a lil bitch. it didnt work. is there any way i can bump the engine w/o the timing belt on w/o bending the valves? thats really the last thing i can think of that would require me having it towed to a shop wiht an impact gun.

Take it to the shop. Thats what I did. It's not worth it. Have a professional do it. Then it's not your fault

alright, im not sure if your trying to get the bolts loose or pull the pully off......i just got up so im not completely awake...but if your tryin to get the bolts loose, the the car in gear...reverse i think(manual tranny)...then put your foot on the breaks while someone comes onto the bolts with a half inch power bar or big pipe............if your trying to get the pully off, usually a good puller will work, but im not sure how else to do it. I hope this helps, but as i said, im half asleep and im not exactly sure what your trying to do, so if this is completely off topic or wrong, then im sorry, anyways....hope that i could help....

If you have to pull the pulley off with anything more than your hands, something has gone very wrong ;) If the pulley is really that stuck to the crank sprocket, it just pulls it off the crank. I've had that happen, so let that be a warning for anyone trying to remove that pulley with the timing belt installed. You should be able to leave the main center bolt installed though and just remove the 4 12mm bolts, but some people just take them all out. That would end up making you do a full tbelt setup again pretty much.

just make sure you DO NOT STRIP THE THREADS OUT OF IT......then you will be shit outa luck.

Not much you can do about that. The threads are way up inside the crank, on the other side of that crank sprocket. If it pulls out the threads something was done wrong on install.

Remember to torque that bolt to 80 ft-lbs when you reassemble.

ohhh wouldnt that be my luck to strip the threads. reassembly...lol im not even thinking about that right now. while im in there im doin the whole 9 so i dont have to do it again in the neat future. water pump, all the belts, cas, ect, ect. thanks for the heads up.

When I was disassembling my old engine to part out all I did was stick a breaker bar in the opposite end, sprayed the bolt with WD-40, and put a socket wrench on it........Then I kicked the socket wrench and it came off. I didnt care if it wrecked anything as it was never going back in a car. I don't think it realy could, but just like you I tried everything else, so finally I got mad and tried that...AND IT WORKED :-)

good luck!
