1996 jetta auto Can't start,battery is good.Next to the RPM is a little window, it shows that it is in drive but the shift handal is in park What's up boschmann 02-16-2005, 05:11 PM Check the shift cable at the trans to be sure the transmission actually is in park. If so, then the multifunction (park/neutral) switch right near the cable connection is bad.
