Replacing tail lights for 1997 Ford Taurus (sedan)ashiiml 02-15-2005, 06:51 PM Hi All, I have a 1997 Ford Taurus (sedan) and I need to replace the tail-light bulb. I opened my car trunk and tried to access the bulb by removing the back cover for the bulbs from the trunk. However, I realized that the bulbs are not easily accessible from this end unless I dismantle some more pieces. I could not find a way to access the tail lamps without opening the trunk, through the exterior surface of the tail light. I am not sure on how to proceed. Any help will be appreciated.....thanks. drdisque 02-15-2005, 11:34 PM take off the round plastic tabs by removing their centers pull away the trunk liner there will be some bolts visible, remove them and the taillamp assembly will come right out, the bulbs are then easy to get at. posegate 02-16-2005, 11:26 AM That's exactly how to do it. You can be careful not to just tear the liner away from the tabs. Those come off fairly easy. There are 3 or 4 bolts to remove. There are rubber washers/gaskets around each bolt-- those do tear easily (especially in the 97). The assembly will fall out of the car, not into the trunk. Put it back together in reverse order ;) ashiiml 02-16-2005, 11:30 AM Thanks a lot for the replies/inputs. Will try out this weekend. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
