How to check fuel pressure

My car is hard starting both when cold and hot. It has to turn over quite a bit before it starts. When turning the key off or on, I can hear the pump so I am not sure if that is the problem. How do I go about checking the fuel pressure? Do I need to get a special tool.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

What year is your car and what engine do you have?

you'll need to acquire a special T-fitting adapter that will allow fuel to flow to the injectors and will allow you to hook your gauge up to read the pressure. Normal fuel system pressure should be between 44-54 psi.
