the book value for the Throttle body version was 160 horses . the cpi version was about 175 with more torque

Actually, the CPI verion is 195 HP.

How do I know if I have the CPI or throttle body version? This is probly a stupid question, but I'm don't know much about cars.

a throttle body will be a carberator looken thing at the end of the air intake

hmm...I would go look but it's at a shop getting fixed. I know it's fuel injected, does that help? Someone I know was saying something about there not being a carb if it was fuel injected...

a throttle body is a type of fuel injection, if you remove the air intake, off of the top of a tb it looks like its a carborator

oh...alright, so this guy thought it was a carb, so he said it wasn't fuel injected, but really it is, it just looks like a carb? and its really a throttle body?

from a 91 vehical i would say yes it is, a way to check is to pull the plastic cap off of the end, if it runs like shit/dies its a throttle body

TBI = Black air filter assembly on top of engine.
CPI = Orange Vortec plate on top of engine.
CPI = Orange Vortec plate on top of engine.

That is something I have always wondered about my 92 Chevy S-10 4X4, how much horsepower does it have.
It is the 4.3 Vortec, on the sticker it said enchanted engine or something to that sort, it came with the towing package.

I got out my Original window sticker that was on it when I bought it in 92 to be sure of exactly what it listed.
Under Standard Equipment the engine is listed as 4.3 V6 Engine with EFI under Standard Equipment on the left side of the sticker.
Under preferred Equipment Group on the right side of the sticker it says,
Enhanced 4.3L engine,
Powertrain Package Consists of:
4.3 V-6 engine
4 Speed Automatic Transmission with overdrive Transmission, and extra Capacity cooling.
No it has the normal flat air filter in black box over by the remote oil filter by the right fender.
Would like to be able to buy another new 92 Chevy S-10 4x4 just like it for the price I gave for it in 92, $17,500 because of a $500 dollar rebate, listed at $21,709.00.
