sixers check it out... Chevyracincamaro 02-14-2005, 05:34 PM
im sure you v-8 guys wont care too much but the sixers should read on. if you havent already, look into swappin out the stock two-piece steel driveshaft for a one-piece aluminum. over the weekend mine came in and it was at least 11lbs lighter than the stock (i used a bathroom scale so it might be more). i read that the reason chevy used the two-piece is to dampen the vibrations that the v-6 engines produced with normal operation, but i put my shaft in and the car runs smoother than it ever did before (havent put it on the highway yet so we'll see). cars a good deal faster too, just thought you all would like to know... Savage Messiah 02-14-2005, 06:53 PM I've been thinking about it but dont have the money.. how much did you get it for? Chevyracincamaro 02-14-2005, 07:51 PM i dont like tellin people that...actually mine was like 500 bucks cause i had to get it custom cut from the company i got my rear-end from. i know that LPE sells a 3.5" from the lingenvette for like 320 or something. you could look into the stock 1LE aluminum from the eighters, those are generally around 200. no matter which way someone goes they are all better than stock... Savage Messiah 02-14-2005, 08:54 PM what size did you get? (I had to think for a few minutes on how to avoid any comments based on "how big is yours" etc) Genopsyde 02-14-2005, 09:03 PM he wants to know how big your shaft is. Savage Messiah 02-14-2005, 09:05 PM yea but width is the question right now Genopsyde 02-14-2005, 10:09 PM gross Chevyracincamaro 02-14-2005, 11:50 PM 3.5" for either case i was gonna go with 3 but there was some confusion as to which parts i already had and such. ended up with a very haunkin driveshaft...
