I have a 2000 S-10 Ext Cab with 2.2L and auto.
Im having a hard time finding a place to run my 8guage wire for amp from the battery to ext cab area through the firewall. Anyone have any pics of where you ran yours. Or where is best place to run it. I really need it to be on Passenger side, but either side will work.

TIA

i don't know if you have installed the amp yet, but i did my girl friends truck, its a 2000 s-10, 4.3L. should be the same thing i found a spot on the pass side under the heater area, i think i went through the antenna gromet. or there is even a space to drill a hole a little further down the fire wall, you just have to be carefull where you drill

Best bet I've found is to punch a hole through the floor and run the wire back by the frame and up through the floor to the amp. That firewall and dash area is a mess.

What I have done on my pickup, with both an 8 and 4 gauge wire, is i ran it from the battery, through the right front fender then through the space there, (top part of fender) then thorugh the door jam, then since the weather stripping was coming off anyway...I just ran it under the weather stripping, from there, I ran it under the kickpannel and under the carpet....If you want pics, I can try to get some posted......
That is if my explaniation isn't good enough...LOL..(which it probably isn't...so i will go try to take pictures)

I ran mine under the truck on the driver side. and through this little rubber gromet i cut a little hole in it and pushed the wire through. its right infront of the seat under the carpet. from there i ran the wire under my carpet thats under my seat and out a hole in the carpet that was there because of where the seats mount in. Or you can run it under the car on the passenger side. and drill a small hole under the carpet and get a rubber gromet of some sort to protect the wire. most wiring kits come with one. whatever you do dont wire it through the door jamb. the wire will bend and will fray, in the end causing less current to be able to flow through your wire. Less current less power. i dont know about you but i want all the power i can get in my subs. have fun w/ it.

If you look closely, the wire is set so it dosen't move, the door dosen't even touch it when it closes!!

I don't know how much of a difference there is between a 2000 and a 2002, but on my 02 blazer I ran wires through the firewall just next to the vacuum assist for the master cylinder. If you take out the panel under the steering column and pull back the carpet you should find a thin spot in the firewall about 2 inches square that has a premade dimple in the sheet metal. You should be able to just use a pointed punch to make the hole. Make sure there is nothing important on the other side first, and make sure to seal the hole with silicone after your done.

I ended up runnning it on passenger side through the radio antenna grommet. You can find it if you pull back the carpet in passenger side flooring on the firewall. Also ran my xm antenna through the grommet and put antenna under the wiper cowl. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Very poor way to run the wire.

Not recommended or a fire could start if it wears through and shorts out.

Never, never, never run through a door jamb! :nono: A accident waiting to happen!I ran mine through where the rest of the wire harness goes through(driver side),just poked a hole through the rubber grommet and got a metal clothes hanger and pulled it through. It's a tight fit though.Don't forget to seal it up.Also make sure you put a inline fuse just off of the battery.I have seen cars go up in smoke when they didn't use a inline fuse and they ran the wire through the jamb.

also use a rubber garmet when going through any metal, including the firewall, that sharp corner can, after some time, cut through the wire down to the metal and then you have to re run the wire after buying the 3 doller fuse

Well at least we all agree on not wiring it through the door jamb lol well except for some of us. i mounted my amp on the back wall. its got a bunch of blue leds inside of it, its a bit of a show amp so i wanted to show it off. Theres not much room under the seat, and you dont want it to over heat cause there just went your amp. most manfacturers will tell you to give it a couple inches of space infront of the fan, if it has a fan, other wise just mount it somewhere it can breathe. some of them also have vents, so your suppose to mount it vertically or horizontally. just check the owners manual.
