Maybe my last kill w/the SRT-4?Steiner 02-12-2005, 03:10 AM Going westbound on the San Mateo Bridge tonight I see what appeared to be a debadged and lowered black '05 STi. I could tell it wasn't just a poser WRX because the rear quarter panels were flared out and the exhaust was the single outlet STi factory piece. Upon closer inspection I could see the car had the factory 8" gold BBS rims. The car was also noticeably louder than stock but I have no idea what else, if anything, the guy had done to the car. He initiated the race. I've been laying low, trying to behave :grinyes: and take it easy on the car while it's for sale. He pulled up next to me and started lurching forward over and over. I looked over and the driver was all smiles so I said why not. We were doing about 65-70mph. I nod, drop it into 3rd gear, look ahead and show him 3 fingers. On cure he honks down...1...2...3...bam...I jump a car length easy, and extend the lead to about 2 or 3 cars before I let off at about 115mph. :flipa: He honked as he passed, gave me a thumbs-up in the rear view, and let off shortly after that. Eventually I lost sight of him. I have 3 different serious buyers coming to look at the car this weekend. It makes me a little sad to think that this little casual kill may have been my last in the SRT-4. :frown: street_racer_00 02-12-2005, 11:22 PM How much are you selling it for? Thourun 02-12-2005, 11:42 PM Why would you sell it!? dampachi 02-13-2005, 12:30 AM He's selling it for a really good price..but I forgot what and I'd hate to guess at what it was and be way lower/higher than he's asking. All I remember is it was a good price and I considered buying it. Steiner 02-13-2005, 12:46 AM Yeah...I'm selling it for $17,500 "as is" or $16,500 w/o the power adders (stage 2 and catback exhaust). I'm selling it for an '05 Evo RS. my online ad (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=99&paId=162207404&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=0&leadExists=true&criteria=AFFILIATEADID-1130133%7CN-N%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending&aff=national) Thourun 02-13-2005, 12:54 AM Nice choice, dunno about not having the power windows and doors and A/C though, that might be rough in summer. alphalanos 02-13-2005, 12:58 AM ahh i wish my dad would buy your car.... Steiner 02-13-2005, 01:23 AM Nice choice, dunno about not having the power windows and doors and A/C though, that might be rough in summer. The RS actually comes with AC. Mitsubishi screwed up the press release. They talked about offering something called an "urban jungle" package for the RS. It never happened though. All Evos sold in the USDM come standard with AC. The power windows and locks...we'll see...I'm more worried about the 2 or 3 days I'll have to drive around in it before I get a stereo. I'll probably be one of those wierdos talking to myself and freaking out other commuters. :screwy: dampachi 02-13-2005, 01:26 AM I've probably listened to my stereo once or twice. haha. Steiner 02-13-2005, 01:39 AM I've probably listened to my stereo once or twice. haha. Check out this thing dude. It plugs into the back of a car stereo deck like a CD changer but holds MP3's like your hard drive. Imagine having up to 120GB of MP3 songs at your fingertips. :eek7: No matter who gets in the car you always know you'll have a song they'll like. I'm thinking about picking up one of these bad boys eventually. :naughty: http://www.ssiamerica.com/products/neo35/ http://www.ssiamerica.com/products/neo35/images/mpt-ncja_01.jpg -Jayson- 02-13-2005, 02:10 AM idk stiener, looks like its bait for a theif to me. Just buy an MP3 player that can hold just as many songs as that and just hook it up to the cd player. That way you can take it out alot easier and its not as noticeable. If you're talking about the LCD screen interface attracting attention...well maybe you're right. I never thought of that. I'll have to do some more research. I'm planing to get a deck that plays CD's and MP3 files anyways though. emokid15 02-13-2005, 02:25 AM yeah that sucks ur selling ur car. but good kill. Boosted1 02-13-2005, 07:27 AM Really nice kill, I didn't know how fast a stage 2 was. Way to beat an Sti. Steiner 02-13-2005, 02:31 PM Thanks guys. With stage 2 and exhaust I think I'm between 275whp-285whp. Torque at the wheels should be above 300ft/lbs though. With less drivetrain loss, at least 20-30 more whp, and a lighter curb weight by about 350lbs it's pretty much my race at freeway speeds. The STi seems to be really geared well for quick 0-100mph sprints. Even with stage 2 I'd have a tough time beating a stock STi up to 100mph unless my car had some slicks. dampachi 02-13-2005, 03:16 PM STis run their best from a dig. Like you were saying, they have much more drivetrain loss for being AWD. -Josh- 02-13-2005, 03:17 PM About the CD player thing, i know a guy who custom makes face plates that make it look like the car came without a factory Radio, it's completely black and when you press a button the screen comes up like a garage door. 2000LS1Z28 02-13-2005, 09:30 PM Good kill. My personal opinion is that you're going to regret selling the SRT-4 to get a Evo RS. You'll find out the hard way how quickly Mitsubishi will void that warranty. Atleast Dodge backs you up. dampachi 02-13-2005, 09:39 PM Pfft, dodge will try like hell to void your warranty too. You just gotta watch what dealer you go to. I've heard of dealers voiding COMPLETE warranties over someone installing a mopar BOV. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Steiner 02-13-2005, 09:47 PM Good kill. My personal opinion is that you're going to regret selling the SRT-4 to get a Evo RS. You'll find out the hard way how quickly Mitsubishi will void that warranty. Atleast Dodge backs you up. Yeah I've read into all the warranty issues. The local dealership I'm buying my Evo from is known throughout CA for being extremely mod friendly though. I've spoken with many other local owners and all but one have basically said they are reasonable. They have an AWD dyno, brand new parts shop and an exclusive retail contract with WORKS. The owner is an Evo owner himself and an WRC enthusiast. I'm paying a little more for my Evo than I might pay other places, but their reputation is solid in these parts and it's a solid group of guys. Fortunately I never had to bring my SRT-4 in for warranty work...a few TSB's but that's about it. I think it ultimately comes down to the dealership and not the auto manufacturer. One of my good friends had the warranty on his SRT-4 restricted because he had stage 1 and a Mopar BOV. The ridiculous thing is that he brought the car in because the flywheel bolts backed out. It's a common problem in early '03 models and has nothing to do with mods or abuse. He got a lawyer and he ended up splitting the cost of repairs. It was f-ing insane. So it really all comes down to the service manager, at least in my experience. Neutrino 02-14-2005, 03:33 AM Good kill steiner, its nice to see that srt4 in action. And i agree with it its often up to the dealership to fix your car or report you. Its nice that you found a nice mod friendly dealer those ar rare nowadays. Tru Mach1Racer 02-14-2005, 05:11 AM What's your 1/4 mile time in your stage 2. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
