97 golf seats

This is my second 97 Golf and the seats are junk in this one too. Is this a common problem or do I just seem to buy the cars off fat-ass people. I've had plenty of older golf/jettas and the seats were great, never worn out, even on my fathers diesle jetta with over 375K on it. Is there a common fix or just replace it? I mean this seat is completely clapped out with the metal bar jamming right into my leg. This suck! VR6s maybe :rolleyes: I've never heard of anyone having problems with mk3 (or any VW) seats honestely .. and mine are fine.
