I measured the voltage when engine running, which was 14.7V, when engine stiops, it is about 13V, so I assume alternator/charge is OK.
But once every 2 wks or so, the battery would be flat over night.

Well your not telling us if you notice any drain, like when you turn it off does the interior lights drop dimmer than they used to? or how much voltage you have when it is off and has sat for a few hours. I will take a stab at it though and call this one a "probable" diode problem. A diode is a one way switch in your alternator that allows power to go out of the alternator circuit, but stops the reverse flow of electricity. This is a easy fix if you can rebuild a alternator, otherwise, find a alternator/starter rebuild shop. New/part store rebuilt alternators are so damn expensive, I would rebuild my own or have it done locally first. I bet locally you may find a rebuilder for $100.00 or less. but don't hold me to it. I would run the car to the nearest autozone/auto parts store that has a on the car tester and have them check it out.

I measured the current out of battery when everything is off, it was 0.01A.

Is this normal ?

Yes, this is about normal. I would have your battery and alternator checked out at walmart or any autoparts store that is capable of testing on the vehicle.

My Battery is brand new.

When engine is running, the V across batter terminal is 14.7v (with head lights on), and it is lower (just below 14v) when engine is off. So, I think the alternator is charge the battery, isn't it ?

You may have a defective battery. Just a hunch.

Hello, I also have a 1995 Mercury Village and within the past month my battery is drained in the mornings. It charges fine it's just when it sits overnight it's hard to start and the battery is reading very low. Something is draining it and I just can't seem to figure out what?

I was wondering if you've fixed your battery drain problem or know what it might be?

thank you

Attention all. The villager and the quest both have a problem with drainage of the battery. The problem I have found to be the most likely and common is the heater control unit. It has a bad solder on the control for the rear heat if equipped. I would do this simple test to dertermin if you have this problem. Remove the radio bezel for the dash 2-4screws and pull on most and remove the ash tray. Once there remove the 4 screws holding the temp unit and unplug every single plug atted to it about 4 if i remember. Then run aound town on a normal day. Yes with no heat and no ac sorry. This will tell you the following morning if you have this problem and then if it is then you have a very easy fix. If not then you eliminated a known culprit and can move on to more expensive fixes. Please post your results for others to learn and not suffer from the same.

You could remove the plug to battery from the starter and the small bolt holding in place. I had both problems and did both at the same time so I never checked which one caused a bigger drain. Either way for me problem was fixed. I may have some starters that I bought at local salvage shops.
