They don't sound bad.. My Infinity Perfect 12's sound better though.

12w3 is good for bandpass, if you're looking for tighter base in a closed enclosure i'd go for a w6.

I have some JL Audio 12' w3's and you wouldn't believe the power they have. I have pull up next to me on the road and tell me my sh*t be hittin hard has hell. I also have a 600 watt amp to push those babies. I still use my factory head unit and I can only turn the bass up half way cuz it seems my trunk is bout to burst. I highly suggest w3's. The only thing I think hits harder is maybe some solobarics or Polk/Momo=>
You won't be disappointed. I'll blast Frogg back into the pond.:D

Go for Kicker Solo-Baric's 12's... Doesn't need much enclousure and hits harder than f*#K!!! Although i like the older model (round) I heard the new model Solo-barics aren't bad either, the only set back is that you'll need some maad powered amps to push these subs... I'd go for PPI...

Anyone know how the JL W7's are?

yeah. i only need one. and that hits as hard as about 3 10s. no joke. i got 500watts continuous. i went for 1000watts with the ppi, but that was just a waste of money, i didn't need my car rattling from all directions.

i got a nice set up. if you get a chance, take a look. it's posted here.

Lol, my bro has the W3's running the same power as you and I kick his ass with how hard my system hits. In the house, you can actually feel the walls shake. You can see the roof on my car go up and down by the sunroof.. crazy shit

well the w6 and the w3 are very closely related, the only real difference is the vrc (vented reinforced coil), makes the subs stronger, they perform beautifully in sealed enclosures.. its all about the sound you want, i have a 12 in a 1.250 cubic foot box, on jls spec books thats rated at a+ for sound .. and i have to admit sounds good, but a bit too much, im aiming for a w7 now.. =)

one love
babir

but i dunno if id recommend a bandpass enclosure with a w3 to anyone.. nah

I just hear a 13w7 the other day. It sure didn't sound as loud as everyone makes it up to be. I feel that the orion hcca 12 is as loud as the 13w7 (they linked 2 bd1500's to it). I haveto give it props on its accuracy though.

I think if you get a pair of W3's which I plan on buying in the next week it will rock the shizz out of anything. My boy had 3 10w3s b4 he upgraded to a sub floor with (6)10w3's which is disgusting. If you have proper amps and have CONTINUOS power going into them rather than PEAK power its should tear your Fukin head right off. Frogg one question tho'. What Amp is your are you running and your bro running that Perfect 12's are out playing w3's? Im not hating on your subs at all I was gonna buy a set myslef. the only reason I didnt is because they are more sound quality and Im going SPL. I had ImageDynamics and they played every note to a "T" but in my efforts of trying to get more BOOM they bit tha dust. Lemme know

Yep, my brothers JL's. We switched for a day and I happened to take pics that day.

I'm running a Rockford bd1000 which puts out about 600watts to each sub. My bro is running a Prestige 1000 watt amp, but I'm not totally sure how much it actually puts out.

That solves it right there!

A prestige amp is a flea market amp. Prestige is junk. You might aswell compare a Hyundai Tiburon to a Bmw M3. They are in two totally different classes. The Rockford alone will blow the Prestige outta tha water. U could put a 100a2 up against it and it will probably sound alot clearer. Im not a fan of rockford at all but I am positive its a far superior amp than a prestige(which Im almost positive is made by audiovox).

I bet if you two would sound off and switch boxes. You would blow him out with the JL's. Try the JL's again you might notice they are two totally different sounding subs

I did.. They sounded alot better than in his car, but mine still were louder and clearer.

I think my Rockford puts out pretty clean power.
And ya, I already recommended to my bro to get a new amp.
Lol, the audio shop my bro took it to switched him a 500w PPI for a 1000w Prestige.. More like 5w Prestige :) heh
Plus PPI are clean and expensive.. he got a new ass ripped right there.

Infinity Perfects are definately a clearer subwoofer.
I think Jl's are more SPL targeted subs.

They did a str8 swap for the PPI amp????

No way.

The only amp I will use other than mine is a PPI cuz they are hard as nails. I hope he got a powerclass!

I've got 2 12" JLA w3's and I love them. I can't even push the system (well, I can.. but choose not to) over 20 vol on the deck. The system kicks at vol 15 with some SUPER BASS and is crisp and clear.

No, they gave him a Prestige amp for his PPI. He ended up PAYING them for the Prestige amp.
You have a Zapco amp right?

Now I know what u mean by he got screwed. No way I'd trade the smallest PPI amo for a Prestige and they are made by Audiovox.

If I were him Id be hella pissed. The price that he paid ontop of the trade probably covered the cost of the prestige amp. So they prolly didn't make a profit but they took his amp and ripped you guys off.

I do have an amp and Its a Zapco AG650 and I would not trade it for anything besides a PPI Pc/Pro 650

I previously had a kenwood sub in my car and was debating wether or not to replace it with a Rockford HE. Well I went down to a local store that sells JL's because a friend of mine recommended JL's and I know they are top of the line. I bought myself one 12W3 and installed it and....oh my. these subs are LOUD AS HELL. They hit so hard and so clear. I have the bass control on my stock deck turned up to the middle, and my amp is set to around 60%, and when the volume control is around 70% I feel like my trunk is going to break apart. I dont even want to turn it up louder because my ears begin to hurt. I fell in love with JL. It was such a change from the kenwood sub (700w max, 150 rms), and kenwood seemed 10x worse. If you want quality, hard ass hitting bass, then go with these. You will NOT be dissappointed.
