My son has a 4WD 1996 Cherokee and just called and said his light came on "part-time" and needs to know if it's safe to drive with this light on. His vehicle no longer has a 4 WD (it was removed). So, what does it mean?? He has had the vehicle over 2 years and this is the first time this has happened. He's mainly worried about damage to the vehicle if he drives with the light on. Any info??

I think it is safe, the light, in stock form is triggered when you switch to 4wd. He can remove the bulb , or put a piece of black tape over the light! I would tell him not to worry!! :2cents:
