Der Diesel is dead reichouse 02-06-2005, 10:37 AM
I have a 91 golf diesel, replaced glow plugs, battery fuse and relay. rlelay light on dash lights and correctly cycles, but no power to plugs. Can I rewire the potential bad ground or short in the system without creating another problem. Thanks, veedubmechanic 02-07-2005, 11:27 PM The glow plug harness shorts out internally on all TDI usually after 60-80k miles. Get a replacement harness from a vw dealer. reichouse 02-08-2005, 10:02 AM The glow plug harness shorts out internally on all TDI usually after 60-80k miles. Thanks for the reply boschmann 02-08-2005, 01:31 PM I wouldn't suspect a short unless it blows the fuse all the time. There is a bad connection on the power side as the plugs ground in the cylinder head. The relay has two large terminals, one should be 12V + & the other goes to the plugs. Get a jumper wire & connect the two pins on the fusebox to see if you get power to the plugs then. reichouse 02-09-2005, 08:15 PM I wouldn't suspect a short unless it blows the fuse all the time. THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT, THE 50A FUSE ON THE FIREWALL WAS THE PROBLEM Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
