2001 SS Clicking/TransmissionJuJuBee 02-05-2005, 11:14 AM 3 months ago (just enough to let my used car warranty expire), I bought my new baby 01 monte ss. Just 3 days ago Ive noticed a loud clicking coming from the front end just when I'm starting out from a complete stop. It goes away as soon as I get to 2nd. It also clicks in reverse. Checked the engine oil, everythings fine there. Pretty sure its the transmission, I just don't know what, does this sound familliar to any other newer monte owners? Does anyone know what it could be? montecarlossfan 02-11-2005, 03:05 PM check your axles the cv boots may have come off one of them and dirt got into the joint thus you have a worn cv joint the parts are relatively cheap...124 bucks for a new one with joint and all JuJuBee 02-11-2005, 10:24 PM Thanks, but the clicking got louder and started to jump around in reverse, so I ended uptaking to a transmission place, they dropped the pan and theres metal everywhere. A differential pin popped out and screwed up my planetary gear. I'm still looking around but the general consensus looks like $1600 to 2 grand. My poor checkbook :-( montecarlossfan 02-11-2005, 11:00 PM look for a used tranny from a boneyard.. you might be able to get one out of a newer vehicle with low mileage, or if u are going to spend money on it..upgrade it to the heavy duty tranny used in the supercharged cars... a much better tranny IMO montecarlossfan 02-11-2005, 11:02 PM i'd also put a fight for them to warranty it, there is no reason that should have happened vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
