Got my new rear today! YAY rlith 02-04-2005, 08:13 PM
Scored a Posi 3:42 from a 99 blazer (disc brakes) for $180.00! Best part is that it only had 33,000 miles on it!!! YAY ME!! Going on tomorrow (saturday) so I can get rid of my crappy drum pegleg! YAY! :naughty: :evillol: :icon16: 2000blazerls 02-04-2005, 09:42 PM Sadly, I have no idea what that means. But congrats, sounds like a good deal! rlith 02-04-2005, 10:48 PM A posi rear spins both wheel at the same time vs spinning only one on a typical rear end. Fireplug 02-04-2005, 10:57 PM Is your truck 4wd ??? if so DO NOT engauge the 4wd with 2 differant gear ratios front and rear or you will eat the transfer case BlazerLT 02-05-2005, 12:20 AM Is your truck 4wd ??? if so DO NOT engauge the 4wd with 2 differant gear ratios front and rear or you will eat the transfer case I was thinking tht too. 2000blazerls 02-05-2005, 07:47 AM How do you know if you have a posi rear? Sounds like it would be a good thing to have. rlith 02-05-2005, 08:16 AM Is your truck 4wd ??? if so DO NOT engauge the 4wd with 2 differant gear ratios front and rear or you will eat the transfer case LOL, I'm very well aware of 4wd...(Yes, I have 4wd) I run a 3:42 peg leg right now with stock drums. The new rear I bought is 3:42 with posi and Disc brakes, there shant be a problem...:D :icon16: cubanlorenzo 02-05-2005, 08:17 AM arent all 4wd posi? that is what i thought at least rlith 02-05-2005, 08:22 AM arent all 4wd posi? that is what i thought at least Nope... Unless you have the G80 RPO code, you only have a pegleg. GU* codes show your ratio... blazee 02-05-2005, 08:41 AM Mine has the G80...so that means it's posi? What ratio is GU6? rlith 02-05-2005, 09:13 AM If you have G80, yes, it's posi, gu6=3:42 ratio.... If you want to decode ALL your RPO codes, go to http://www.s10forum.com/rpo/ They have a nifty little rpo decoder. rlith 02-05-2005, 09:17 AM Dig it... (granted, it's muddy and has some surface rust, easily taken care of!) Already have new discs and pads ready to go on.. http://www.pghconsulting.net/teal/rear.jpg blazee 02-05-2005, 09:20 AM I thought factory skids plates meant it had one wheel peel. All the sites I'm seeing while searching say G80 is limited slip blazee 02-05-2005, 09:22 AM Check this out: http://www.jcscoops.com/faq/rpo_1999.php rlith 02-05-2005, 09:56 AM Skid plates are standard on all of our trucks..Except the zr2 which have skid plates running all the way to the back. Limited slip is POSI... G80 AXLE POSITRACTION , LIMITED SLIP blazee 02-05-2005, 10:35 AM Mine has them all the way to back. I thought that was part of the offroad package. I've heard that the ones with the off road package are one wheel peel. blazee 02-05-2005, 10:38 AM Just to make it clear...I'm not disputing you I'm just curious. Also were roll bars put in by the factory or is mine an aftermarket. blazee 02-05-2005, 11:02 AM I have been searching many sites....and what I heard is wrong. Mine does have the offroad package and G80 is a locking diff. So that means that the offroad package doesn't automatically mean you have one wheel peel. johnpsu 02-05-2005, 05:33 PM Even a rear sway bar. where the hell did you find that deal. Im assuming thats an 8.5" rlith 02-05-2005, 08:11 PM My current one already as a rear sway bar...I got it from a local wrecking yard...(I know the guy) toenailclippers 02-05-2005, 10:33 PM so if you have disc brakes on the rear on a 4-wheel drive (my 98 LT) do I have what you just got? rlith 02-06-2005, 07:40 AM No, read the thread... You have to have the G80 rpo code to have posi... Posi was an option on the s10/blazers/jimmy's/sonoma'a and was standard on the Bravada and the ZR2. (Zr2 also uses 8" rear that's 3" wider) 97blazermadness 02-06-2005, 05:46 PM That's a sweet upgrade! Posi and disc brakes -- do you figure that you'll gain some stopping power by replacing the drums w/discs? rlith 02-06-2005, 07:53 PM It should definatly help... I hate drums, lol. Officer Redneck 02-06-2005, 09:14 PM If you have G80, yes, it's posi, gu6=3:42 ratio.... If you want to decode ALL your RPO codes, go to http://www.s10forum.com/rpo/ They have a nifty little rpo decoder. I tried to see what my RPO's were and it said unknown on all but two. How do I find out what the rest are? Thanks in advance. blazee 02-06-2005, 09:19 PM I tried to see what my RPO's were and it said unknown on all but two. How do I find out what the rest are? Thanks in advance. Sounds like you didn't enter them correctly. Officer Redneck 02-06-2005, 09:39 PM Sounds like you didn't enter them correctly. They allow three letters/numbers in each box so that is what I did. Do some of them only require two? I would like to know whaat I did wrong so I can go back and do it right. blazee 02-06-2005, 09:42 PM each rpo code is three digits, you enter one code per box. your codes are on the sticker in the glovebox Officer Redneck 02-06-2005, 10:05 PM [QUOTE=blazee]each rpo code is three digits, you enter one code per box. your codes are on the sticker in the glovebox[/QUOTE Thanks. I was looking at the wrong numbers. hunter01 02-07-2005, 12:42 AM GT* codes also show your ratio. My 02 4X4 blazer has, G80 Axle Positraction Limited ,Slip and GT4 Axle Rear 3.73 Ratio (Dup with 5X1) Does anyone know what (Dup with 5X1) means?
