Hey guys Eddie here... 17yrs old.
I got a 1983 2.8lt 4x4 *passed down after my sister cought it on fire PM me for the story*

I've had it for almost 6 years now and sense I've been able to finally get work I've spent some cash on it to try to fix the transmission leak problem *so far so good*
So I figured so many years not using the 4x4 why not throw on a new switch that should fix everything... It's a 2-wheel low and thats all she wrote, I've got a piston shot on it so it blows out blue smoke until it warms up...

I have a friend that can get me a brand new 350 for $1200, But why can't I get the bugger into 4x4? Please don't tell me that I have to replace the hoses and the vacuum accuator...

Hit me up with some news, will reply later saturday night.

I really want to turn her into a off-road hog... I want to throw mud not spin in it....

More than likely it's what you said a accuator or hose. I have a 94 S10 Blazer and only the 2-low will work in it also. I have the push button on mine so I replaced the switch on the transfer case but that didn't do anything so then I was going to replace the accuator which was a $100, but then when I was getting ready to switch the accuator I just thought I'd adjust the cable a little bit where it hooks up to the accuator and the 4-High started to work. It only worked for about a week and I tried adjusting it again but know help. Wish I would of never taken the accuator back to the dealership, I could of used it!

I found this link on another thread in this forum. I don't know how good this is, or if it's worth the money but it's another way of fixing the problem.

Sweet site, I might consider that.

I tried that product on my '95 s10 pickup and it didn't work very well. They made it try to fit too many trucks, making it not feel like it was ment for my truck. Also, it really didn't seem reliable. Is your truck a push button or manual shifted, I would think an '83 would have the manual shifted?

The shifter is in the middle of the floor, gotta push the button on top to shift it down to 4 high then nutural, put it in nutural then grind into 4 low *but only get 2 low*
