2.2 vs. 2200 swaping questions

Ok, heres the deal... Got a 94 s10 that has a tired/knocking 2.2. Got a 2200 out of a 98 cavalier to put in it if possible. From my research that I have done I have found out that we will have to swap the heads. Have to put the 2.2 head on the 2200 block and use a 2.2 head gasket as the cooling flows different in a rwd 2.2 vs 2200 fwd and the intake and exhaust manifold's are different. I am aware of swaping all the accesories and the oil pan (most likely).

My question/concern is are the crank shaft sensors/position/triggers the same between the two? Basically, will the ECU be able to read the 2200's crank signal and still run on a 2.2 PCM? The sensors look identical between them and are in the same location.

From what I gathered it seems that there are 2 crank sensors on the 2.2 in this truck, is this true? I was looking for a knock sensor on the 2.2 in the dime and couldn't find one...Do they exist on these 2.2's being DIS? I know generally all DIS system vehicles have to have a knock sensor to adjust timing. I know the 2200 has one but not the 2.2?? :screwy:

If anyone has done this and/or has some insight on this I would appreciate it.

best bet find a 2.8 or 4.3 for the swap
