does anyone know how to test the low fuel indicator light without having to take off the instrument cluster or having to run out of gas. Also how would you change the light buld when its actually inside the instrument cluster.

I dont htinmk there is a way.

Your best bet would to syphin out the gas into a gas container and see if it comes on.

if its a truck made after 91 *i think* you cant sypen out of them any more, they put screens in the way, damn kids! plus you dont sound like you let it get that low anyways, so why do you want to check it??

cant change the bulb. i think they started in like 90-91 making the back of the cluster a big printed circuit board and the lights are leds wired into little bays with the lens as a cutout in the visible side of the cluster. took the cluster out to fix buddys brake lite (inspection time...) in the cluster and had to pack the cylinder with electrical tape so no light could show through. his was a 93?-94?

Actually you can, the standard gauges are all 194 while the warning lights are t1's... Very easy to replace...
